Our 5 yr old Lilly, got into my daughters tampons. She ripped the wrappers off and chewed the plastic applicators. There is one tampon unaccounted for, we can't find it and assume she swallowed it.…Continue

"Luna is on a mega dose of steroids these days for her cancer... 24/7 claiming we don't feed her and attempting to steal everything.  Last week she ate a strawberry top/leaf that I dropped.. she doesn't even like greens!"

"Yep, that's always my go-to.  Sandwich bread. Luna once ate (we think) a chicken bone on garbage day on a walk and this is what we did.  Those things are so dangerous :/"

"For future reference: Generally when a dog eats something fairly benign ( not poisonous, not sharp), my vet says feed them as much Wonder bread as they will eat and keep water available and the will pass it."

Ate tin foil, should I induce vomiting?

Hi everyone. My 6 yr old doodle just ate a piece of tinfoil, about 12”x14”. She didn’t swallow it whole, because I found her before she finished, looks like she shredded it apart. Should I induce vomiting? Also it had probably 4TB of olive oil inside. She is on a course of steroids and she constantly hungry and thirsty. Several days ago she got ahold of a roll of toilet paper, she is jumping up counters for Kleenex, which is something she has not done in 5 1/2 years.See More

Aural Hematoma

I just discovered Lilly (6 yrs) has an aural hematoma. I searched for posts here, but nothing in the past few years. Lilly had a hematoma about 1 year ago, the vet drained it and all was good until tonight. I'm not sure the cause makes any difference, but my guess is, it has something to do with pollen and allergies. What we've read tonight, many times the vet with want to do surgery. Can anyone share their experiences with this? surgery? or draining?Lilly and JeanneSee More

Thank you for the friend request! I think most of us on DK feel the same as you do about animals. That's one of the things I love about it! And I'm the same about the circus and zoos too-won't go near them.

Thanks Jeanne!  Great idea with the leash and thanks for the reminder about the meds.  I hadn't thought of that but of course she'll be a little wonkie for a couple days.

Thank you for your friend request!

My husband and I stopped by a groomers place that is really close to our home today. We had Charly with us. We all went in to check out the place and ask a few questions. She was very nice. I told her that Charly was an Australian Labradoodle. She guessed a Labradoodle which was correct. I was please she knew the breed. She was not aware however that Charly is a "small" doodle. She didn't know that there was such a thing as "small" doodles. That concerned just a little. I told her for sure I didn't not ever want Charly to have a poodle cut. That I was interested in her having just a puppy trim to begin with for sure and that I really liked her look right now. So that I wanted to maintain as much of the look or the shape that she has right now. Her hair seems to be loose wavy, with a bit more curly around her legs and head. I love it, but who knows what will happen when her adult coat comes in.

While we were there I allowed her to clip her nails as she desperately needed them done. Not even a peep out of Charly! So that was a good sign.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Thank you for the friend request.  We are hoping to visit Las Vegas with our dogs in April for the romp.  I hope to meet you then - even if you don't have your doodle yet.
