My DH just went to the front door to bring in the morning paper and was greeted by our favorite Muscovy Duck. She was standing right on our front porch, thought for a minute she would try to fly inside the house to get her daily snack of bread. She has been coming to our yard for a while now, and is beginning to feel like a member of the family. Just standing there, waiting and watching, its like we have a "guard duck"!

Comment by Sally, Ditzy Mitzi & Sgt. Pepper on December 23, 2011 at 5:54am Also, we usually put the bread in the grass away from the house due to the "mess". This was just for a photo op.
Comment by Sally, Ditzy Mitzi & Sgt. Pepper on December 23, 2011 at 5:53am F you are so right! But people are always going to the pond down at the corner to feed them. She has
actually nested behind our hedge, even had two nests full of eggs that hatched, but the chicks did not
survive more than two weeks due to the cats and other critters that got them. We have tried to discourage her by not feeding her and trying gently to shoo her away but she always comes back.
