Thanks not sure right now his c6 test went down to 50 but know he is on meds for bad diahrea and probiotics and rice and chicken my poor Rufus hope he gets back to normal soon

Hi.  I just got your message. Sorry to hear about Rufus.  So far, since discovering Axl tested positive for Lyme, he's been okay.  However, today he had a lump removed from his side/rib area & have to wait 5-7 days for the additional pathology to come back :-(  I don't think its related to the Lyme, though. 

 Swollen joints can usually be noticed if the dog is favoring a paw or reacts when he/she jumps off the sofa, for example (if you let him on the sofa...), or if he reacts when you feel his legs & paws through the fur.  I think we have to wait another few months before we can get Axl the lyme vaccine.  I could have sworn he was vaccinated as a puppy.  Apparently not... But he's now wearing a flea & tick collar recommended by the vet & still has frontline or something similar applied monthly. 

Hopefully Rufus doesn't have any long term side effects from the lyme disease.  Good luck!

thanks everyone so far i they only signs i saw were loose stool  its is warm and humid where i live so he has been lazy so i thought it was normal i guess  when he goes in 5 weeks for anual ck i am going to have a c6 done i am wondering what is level is but for now he is on med sdoxclyne  for 30 days and his urine came back squeaky clean so no protien so happy about that for now and switching to k9 advantix 2 as well .. just have to be carefull about my cats with the flea med i feel a little better

Also...this is just what worked for me...I don't want you to think that is always the case...if your dog is unwell I would start treatment right away, the only reason I didn't is Jack showed no sign at all of disease.

I just went through this right before I changed vets. Jack my doodle had lost a patch of hair which lead to a massive amou t of testing...one test showed a positive antibody for Lymes 1 to I forget just positive enough to be positive. I was in the hospital when I found out so my mom brought Jack to her vet that did a Lymes screening that is done with a heart worm test.. Totally negative but since he had "titers" for it we went on for the third test which can tell between disease and antibody from something else..apparently sometimes there can be an error in this specific test...Jack had no titer or antibody or disease at all for Lymes. If I would have listened to my former vet....he would be on medication though his only symptom was a little hair loss.


I AM NOT saying that is the case with you at all. If your dog has symptoms it is so better to treat..I live in an extremely low tick area....and again he didn't have lameness other then he didn't want to jump up on my bed.


I personally would recommend getting the test to differentiate between actual disease and or a titer unless they are showing signs of disease then I would start ,educations and still have test done. Here it was only $40,00

Like others pointed out, if caught early and treated it is better.

I am sorry to hear your news but if you catch the disease early all may be fine. As for joint, get used to feeling your dogs knees and elbows and any other accessible joints. You ay be able to feel changes should they occur.

One of my cats passed away from kidney failure this year so when I my dog tested positive Lyme and read about it can attack the kidneys I started to get nervous
