- I live in Smithtown/Hauppauge on Long Island with my husband and 2 sons. We added an aussie doodle to our family in May of 2008 after 7 years without a dog. She has truly become 'one of the family'.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- We have a tri color aussie doodle named Tori. After MUCH deliberation, we chose "Tori" because it actually means "elegant" in the Aborigine language. Besides some Koi and goldfish in our pond, she is our only pet.
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?

- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- We actually fell upon this breed of a dog. For years, my sons wanted another dog, but I really wasn't up to the upkeep it took. We had a 125 pound Golden that had to be put down at 11 years old. (He was our "first" baby ). My older son went on "dog-breeder.com" and put in our "desires". He wanted a large dog, my younger son wanted a small one he could hold, and after our Golden, I wanted a non-shedder. He completed a questionnaire of many questions and believe it or not an aussie doodle popped up! I had NEVER heard of one before. There were no breeders to be found near us at all. The only one we found was one in Ontario. We checked out her website and...
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- She loves to play chase, and ball. She's great at agility games, but we really need to work with her more outside on this now that the weather is cooling down. But most of all I like to just sit with her and play with her hair.

- A little bit but nothing major

- Kathi from My-T-Fine Canine. She is EXCELLENT!!!

- None now, but I have heard about Bark2Basics which is supposed to be great with matts.

Looks Like It's Our Turn...
Well, took Tori for her yearly check-up and vaccinations...and it seems that she had a fever - a pretty high one the doctor said.. 103.9. She has been sort of mopey the last few 4 days or so... but then would play, romp, etc. Her eating habits are not as good, but I just contributed that to possible habit change now that she's 2. But.. I should have trusted my 'gut' feeling that said something was just not right. I do notice that the last couple of weeks she has been - shall we say- more concern… Continue

I-Dog Dragon
Day One and hour 2 ~ with the SUPPOSEDLY indestructible I-Dog Dragon... Tag: shredded, and top spine: torn... Well.... maybe I should enter Tori in the Guinness World Book of Records for strongest teeth.... We'll see how long this actually WILL last.... My DH was right....more money "well spent"... On a positive note - she does just LOVE it....

- Thanks for the congrats. We are soooo excited. My daughter in law is keeping us in the loop every step of the way so we are really lucky to be so involved also. We already have sonogram photos - but I know that they are only precious to family - but they are 3-D. I didn't know technology had come so far since I had my youngest baby!

Laci said… - Hi Shelly! It's kind of a long story, but Holly has had episodes of diarrhea and/or vomiting about once a month since January 2010. After the fifth time or so the vet said he suspected she had food allergies, since she also has other classic symptoms such as dry flaky skin, paw biting, ear infections, etc. This diagnosis was made in early May, and we are on our 2nd food trial. The sneezing started almost 2 weeks ago, and it has been pretty non-stop since then. It does get worse when we take her outside, so I actually think it may be environmental allergies such as grass or pollen causing the sneezing, not the food allergies. And she may actually have both types of allergies, but that's what we're trying to figure out. Whew! Anyways I hope this is not what's causing Tori's sneezing, but keep me posted if you find an answer :). Have a great weekend!
