Profile Information

About Me:
My husband and I are retired elementary school teachers in Southern California. We enjoy being empty nesters, but lucky enough to have our children and grandchildren living near enough that we see them often.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Our cream, apricot doodles were born on Saint Patrick's Day, 2008. One is a large mini apricot Australian Labradoodle that we named Ned, and the other is a medium apricot/cream doodle named Clancy. Our youngest doodle, Charlie, is our chocolate/white parti boy. He was born in November of 2013.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder, Rescue, Rehome
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We had two dogs and weren't looking for another, but we met a small Labradoodle when we were camping and fell in love. We immediately went on the internet and learned as much as we could about doodles and ended up with a smaller sized Australian Labradoodle that we picked because he just charmed us with his personality and antics.
Clancy had been rescued from a kill shelter where he was labeled dog-aggressive. I am so grateful that someone recognized that Clancy was afraid, not aggressive. Ned and I met him at the pet adoption center fund-raiser where he was being nicely walked through the crowd (this so-called aggressive boy around a a bunch of kids and other dogs!), and I was in love again.
Charlie is our youngest boy. He was a re-home through the DRC. He had been in two homes where no one cared enough about him to recognize and appreciate how wonderful he is and work with his challenges. He is a sweetheart who needed the right furever family and that is ours! We are so lucky to have our boys.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
They fit into our family well and we enjoy including them in our activities. I also enjoy taking pictures of them.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Yes!, Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
We have them groomed locally by a wonderful gal at Creature Comforts.
Favorite Doodle Products?
Ned especially loves stuffies. Clancy loves toys - anything you give him, but he destroys EVERYTHING with stuffing. He could be an Olympic gold medalist in the art of toy destruction. Charlie is our snuggler extraordinaire!

We actually did! We got first pick! And thank you so much. You've been so sweet and supportive. We'll bring him by one day, but he'll much bigger by then. Meantime, the pics will have to suffice : )

I don't know where the comment went. We got Hammy on April 13, he's now about 9 1/2 weeks old, he's sweet, cuddly, smart, loving, and willing to please. He's a mini Labradoodle, should end up at about 25 pounds but who knows? : ) We drove to Sacramento to ASD Companion Doodles and drove back to Ventura County with my husband at the wheel and Hamilton on my lap. He did great! We go for a vet visit tomorrow for another round of shots. As soon as we can, we'll take him to meet other dogs, but for now, I take him to nearby shopping areas to meet people and socialize. We couldn't be happier with him!

Did my pic of Hamilton come thru for you? I posted you some info about our new pup a few days ago. :)

Hamilton is now about 4 weeks old, from Snickers and Wilbur : ) Your suggestions were GREAT! No apologies! We were aware, yes, but you got very specific, and your ideas for where to stop are so welcome. Thank you!! We can't wait to introduce you to him when he's older. I'll try to remember to post a picture here when we get him. We're so excited we can't see straight!

We're driving up to Sacramento on a Friday and returning with Hammy on Saturday. ASD Companion Doodles is just outside of Sacramento. We can't wait!

Lol, as i said, his name will be Hamilton. A boy. The only thing we're waiting on is to see if the one we chose will be a good personality fit. We picked only on the basis of appearance, since they're 400 miles away. Once we meet the pups, we'll know if he's the one. Here's Hamilton, so far: Hammy%204%20weeks%20March%2021%202018.jpg

My comment disappeared! I was trying to tell you that we finally found a doodle, but it wasn’t a GoldenDoodle, it’s a Labradoodle. We found him at a ASD Companion Doodles in Sacramento, but he won’t be ready to take home until mid April. We’ve already named him: Hamilton! We couldn’t be more grateful to you guys for helping and supporting us in our search. Christina (ASD) was the only one who had minis available, so we switched doodles to Labra. I’ll keep you posted!

Sully is a wonderful blessing that came to us at a time that we most needed it! We didn't expect to rescue so quickly, but thanks to some wonderful DRC people, things fell into place just like it were meant to be!!!

He's a 7 month old goldendoodle and has settled in like a champ. Scrappy is over the moon happy and plays like a puppy again....until she's had enough, lol.
