Profile Information

About Me:
My husband and I are retired elementary school teachers in Southern Ca. We have 3 grown children and one darling grandchild.

Clancy
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Our doodles were born on Saint Patrick's Day, 2008. One is a small medium apricot Australian Labradoodle that we named Ned, and the other is a cream-with-apricot doodle named Clancy. We had 2 other dogs - a 12 year old Lab/Australian Shepherd mix (passed 9/3/10), and a now 9 year old English Springer Spaniel. Simon, our Lab mix let new dogs know he was both boss and caretaker. Gordie, our Springer, is a sweet submissive soul who just doesn't know how to assert any authority. The doodles steal his toys.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder, Rescue
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We had two dogs and weren't looking for another, but we met a small Labradoodle when we were camping and fell in love. We immediately went on the internet and learned as much as we could about doodles. We ended up with a small Australian Labradoodle that my husband picked because when we were viewing the puppies, he climbed into the water bucket to play. popart ned with name

Clancy doodle arrived because we couldn't leave him in a shelter even though he was safe there. He had been rescued from a kill shelter by the local humane society. They had a fund raiser and wisely took him to show him off - I was hooked, but we gave others a chance. The humane society listed him as a Labradoodle but we suspect that he might be a Goldendoodle.
I started off by saying we had two perfectly wonderful dogs and didn't need more. We didn't NEED more, but doodle-fever cannot be cured.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
They fit into our family well and we enjoy including them in our activities. I also enjoy taking pictures of them.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Yes!, Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
We have them groomed locally by a wonderful gal at Creature Comforts.
Favorite Doodle Products?
Ned loves bones and Gordie's giant fuzzy ball - you know the one he stole. I love Cowboy Magic products, The Original Horse Mane and Tail Spray-in Detangler, Les Pouchs slicker brush. Clancy loves toys, bones, cookies - anything you give him, but he destroys EVERYTHING stuffed.

Sounds good, we'll look into things when we get back from Florida.  Any interest in a weekend at Bolsa Chica beach right down from the dog beach at Huntington Beach.  I thought a weekend there might be fun for the dogs?  Also found out the date; August 17 - 8th annual day on the bay in Long Beach.  If you are interested I can recommend a free parking palce and we can pick you up in the boat.

Love the pic of them in the boat! lol  We are trying to keep busying.  I will let you know as soon as I find out more.  I'll start asking around, I htink hte date is set but nothing is posted on the board yet?

Acutally they are exiting her out and she isn't done yet!  She has about 90 hours to go but she's reached her 2 yrs and thats it???  She's hoping to finish those hours on her own so she can get her certificate.

We haven't done Josie yet, we've been so busy on the weekends we just haven't made the time.  We really need to do it!  We ran into a gal yesterday who breed and raised Brittany's and she insists there is Britt in her, even checked her belly for ticking (I call them freckles). lol  It's really gonna be interesting what she comes back with.  We'll definitely keep you posted.

Enjoy your busy summer months, maybe we can meet up in San Diego at some point and hang out at the dog beach.  KOA is having some good specials so we may even make it a weekend?

Hello,  I've been in a whirlwind the past several weeks, playing catch gets tougher the older you get! lol   We spent memorial weekend at the river, great time with family then Kirstie and I are heading off to Florida for two weeks at the end of the month, I hope the girls survive without us!  Mom will be alone with them!!!!  In August we have a old boat meet at Los Alamitos Bay in Long Beach if you two are interested?  Dogs aren't allowed on the beaches there so we may spend the day without them but there should be a good collection of old boats?  It's our annual day on the bay, you two are welcome to join us.  I'll know the dates probably in July unless I've missed the posting??  We need to plan another San Diego run, we all love Ocean Dog Beach.  Hopefully we'll catch you at the next doodle romp, last one had a good turn out.  more later, Jolene

Hi, Thank God you found Clancy what a lovely Doodle! Talking about Charlie as a Puppy, We bought him from a Mennonite Farm. He was the only one left and 13 weeks old. His Mum was a very dark red English Retriever ,we met her, His Dad was a Miniature Apricot Poodle. I think that is why he was so heavy boned maybe? We have since met a brother and a sister from the same litter(small world) and they were very similar. The owners both said they had a hard time choosing a puppy as they were so alike. Lucky for us we ended up with our Charlie he has been such a great dog. He is Quite calm and loves everyone!

Hi, Yes Charlie is 48ibs and not very tall either...he looks like a walking teddy bear!  Clancy and Charlie look like they are related:) I was just having a quick look at the pictures.  I will post more of Charlie when I figure the site out.
