"OMD! Auggie is so cute I can hardly stand it! What you are describing sounds like airborne allergies to me...both the goopy eyes and the leg chewing are symptoms. Spring is a classic time for these allergies to appear. "

Auggie chewing his leg, could this be an allergy ?

A few days ago I noticed that Auggie has hardly any fur in a big patch on his leg due to chewing it like crazy..  Today he has really goopy eyes.  He has been spending a few days a week at the doggie day care and I am wondering if this is some kind of allergy that he may have picked up there. He is on the same food [ TOTW puppy ] at 5 months that he has always had so I doubt it is food based.  I am taking him to the Vet to get it checked out.  But it sure seemed like it started when we began…See More

Take a look at the photos on my page, Kris.  I have two doodles right now (actually three because we have a guest doodle for a few weeks) and my large doodle is 90 pounds and the "little guy" is 50 pounds.  I told my husband that I don't worry when I am walking them out in the woods because I have 200 pounds of dog with me.  (Our guest is 60 pounds).

The grooming is not a problem for us, but today I did not take the dogs to the beach because I did not want to give baths to three dogs this afternoon.  I will take them out tomorrow while my husband rides his bike.  We normally do that three times a week.  You have a lot of fun times ahead.  There are so many great places to walk in your area.  We had really considered moving to Grants Pass a few years ago.

I love chocolate doodles too.  We are getting a second puppy in the next couple of weeks and he is predominately cream with chocolate head, ears and some other parti markings.  I am so excited to see how Charlie will react to having a brother.  They have the same father, but different mothers.  Charlie will be 2 this coming Dec 18th.  thank you for the friend request.

Christine  ~ thank you for the friend request.  When is the birth of your little puppy expected.  Are you getting your puppy from a breeder in Oregon?  We live in Richland, Wa which is not that far from the Oregon border!  I hope you enjoy this site and I cannot wait to see photos of your little puppy.  Thank you for your compliments regarding Charlie - he is definitely my heart dog.

Oh, you don't need to worry about it.  It really comes naturally like having a baby.  But do take and post lots of photos.  We would love to share the experience with you.  We have always done our own grooming because we had the time and the inclination.  Our dogs have never been boarded or been to a groomer.  When my husband did a remodel on our house (turned the old garage into his workshop), I said I wanted a dog washing area and so it was built into our laundry room.  Our dogs walk a ramp to get up to the sink and step down into the sink for their bath.  It has just always been a part of their life.  When we care for other dogs, however, they are a little more reluctant to come to their bath so eagerly.  Start your training right from the beginning with lots of handling and play with them.  Have a great time.  You have a few months to get ready.  Enjoy.

Welcome to Doodle Kisses and I was interested to see that you live in Medford and are already a doodle fan.  I have had doodles for many years and have our third one now.  We also have been doodle sitting this summer and have our third guest right now.  She goes home on Tuesday.  Your life can definitely change with doodles.  My husband and I are both retired and they are our excuse for even more exercise that we already get.  You are right about having more than one.  But, when you start with multiple doodles, they get so dependent and involved with one another, that you can never go back to having just one dog.  Good luck on your journey.
