Profile Information

About Me:
My husband Jacob and I are living in Utah, working, going to school and raising Darwin, our F1 Goldendoodle. I love to read, bake, take photos, and spend time with Darwin. I have always loved dogs, and I'm so excited to have one of my own, finally!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Darwin is our 4 and a half year old f1 Goldendoodle. He is a standard, and is around 65lbs. He is goofy, adorable, affectionate and has a huge appetite! His idea of a perfect world would be one in which he had unlimited access to cheese...
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I have done years of research on what breed would be right for us. In my search I have always kept good companion at the top of my list. Golden Retrievers and Standard Poodles were both dogs I was considering. When I found the Goldendoodle, I was a bit apprehensive but as I researched them for the next year or so, I fell in love. My husband and I hope when Darwin is full grown we can add a Standard Poodle or another doodle to our family. We are so glad we made the choice to get a doodle. Darwin could not be more perfect.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We love to take Darwin to our local dog park. It is a nature park, so there are big trails, trees and a stream to play in. He always has a blast and loves to meet new doggie friends. We also enjoy finding fun hikes to go on. He also loves a good nap or a nice cuddle on the couch.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I do, and if I'm lazy - a local groomer.
Relationship Status:
Married

Hello everyone, just wanted to give a Darwin update it's been a while! He is getting fluffy again and he's so ready for Spring - because it means we are outdoors a lot more! Here are some photos of our recent adventures.

In January he  we had fun playing out in the snow, looking back at these I'm even happier that Spring is here!…

Happy Holidays from Camilla and Darwin!

Posted on December 13, 2013 at 10:00pm 39 Comments

Finals are over, it's getting cold (REAL cold!) and the holidays are here! Things could not be better. I thought I'd post an small update on Darwin, and add our holiday cards for this year.

First off - I will make an admission. This semester I got super busy, and for the first time, Darwin became quite matted. I am usually very diligent about brushing him, so this is the first time he's been matted to this level. I feel terrible about it, and I really didn't even realize how…

Falltime with Darwin

Posted on October 21, 2013 at 3:06pm 32 Comments

I was hoping that I would be able to follow my last blog post with something humorous or interesting, but alas I am no Laurie and another boring blog post is what you all get.

I just thought I would add some recent photos of Darwin and update everyone on our happenings as of late. We've been super busy because school is in full swing, midterms were last week and I'm glad to be past that! Darwin is too - because it means we have more time to play!

The Good the Bad and the Ugly : My Trip to See Laurie, Fudge and Vern...

Posted on September 4, 2013 at 3:00pm 75 Comments

A few months ago Laurie and I started to discuss me coming to PA. At first it was in jest - and we egged each other on a bit. Then it started to get more serious and before I knew it I was going. To say I was excited was an understatement. DH was excited too, because of course he knows Laurie from her blogs and my constant stream of DK information.

As the weekend grew closer I got nervous about a few things. Well, one thing in particular. First of all, since 2009 when Laurie…

Hi Camilla,  I love your pictures.  Darwin is so photogenic.  What camera do you use?

I looked at the Millers link but it says you have to be a professional. Your photos certainly are professional, but do you actually have to be a professional photographer?

Did I ever show you this?  I can't remember.  This is the website I made for my mom.  We've actually raised like $15,000 and are going to give away scholarships every year.  Those little colored shapes in the corner were her life's work.

I think you mentioned that Darwin has red patches on his elbows and hiney like Owen has. I took the dogs to the vet this week and asked about this condition. The vet immediately asked me if we had cement at our house here and didn't have it in CA. Yes! We had no cement in CA and there is a cement patio in our back yard now. She said that the patches were from rubbing on the cement when sitting and lying down. Just thought I would let you know, in case Darwin has cement in his life. ???

Thanks Camilla. I know photoshop is serious business - in fact there are people who's entire jobs are based on photoshop. Basically this is what Id like to be able to do. First is to remove elements that don't belong - such as a stray leash or foot. Second would be to have the option of learning how to fix and brighten eye - like when the hair on top of Lola's muzzle is in the way, for example. Lastly, to brush in adjustments to only part of the picture. Like adding fill light just to Lola but not the background. I don't know how hard that is but I thought I remembered having seen it done in a way that looked really good.
