Everything we need to know about feeding our doodles!
Happy Birthday to Hudson and all the other siblings from Terri and Tula. Tula had an enjoyable afternoon swimming in the pool at doggie daycare while Mom and Dad ran some errands. Can't believe our babies are 1 yr. old already!

- About Me:
- Married to my husband of 32 yrs. Two married sons, one 6 month old grandson. Originally from NE, one son and wife in Des Moines, IA, the other son and wife in Omaha, NE. We have always had dogs and cats. Rescued 2 kitties two yrs. ago.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- We have a Golden Doodle named Tula who was born June 7, 2008. Last year had a golden that died at age 13 w/cancer. Have also had cocker spaniels, st. bernard. I was raised with labs and also preferred the larger breed dogs.
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?
- Breeder
- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- Mainly because of tempermant and low-allergy, shedding because of new daugher-in-law that is somewhat allergic to dogs. Also at this age, (empty-nesters) would love to have less household hair to clean up after.
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- Still in the process of training, but will love to play fetch and walk often.
- Does your doodle(s) shed?
- Nope!
- Who grooms your doodle(s)?
- No shedding yet, just a baby.
- Favorite Doodle Products?
- So far she Tula loves her blanket from her breeder, squeaker stuffed toys, nylabone.

- Terri, I hope all is well with your husband and that he is recovering quickly from his surgery. What a blessing to be given such a gift. I use to be a nurse on an organ transplant unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Lexie and Zoey are getting along really well. Lexie is so gentle and patient.Zoey is a pup from Katie and Aladdin. Zoey looks identical to Lexie when she was little. She will be the same size. So far, so good. Give hugs to Tula from her sisters.

Hope all is well with you. I'm in my final 3 weeks of school work - big push! I had Hudson at the Doggy park this morning and he was just covered in mud afterwards. Its warm(relative) here - the mud is unthawing and rain is expected. So bath time and then back to the books.

- Just checking in on how things are going with you and the family. Also wanted to see if you had posted any new pictures and sure enough you have!!! Oh my goodness Tula is such a girl. No question, you can tell her and Hudson are bro and sis, but she does look like a girl. I'll have to update some pics too, but for the most part he looks like he last pictures. I'm surprised his coat is longer - I thought he would need a haircut soon, but he seems to be fine.
That's all for now - back to my school work!!

- Hi Terri - sorry I didn't reply sooner. I'm so busy right now with work and finishing my thesis for my MBA. WoW! Tula's is a big one. Have you had it removed yet? Hudson's did get quite large but not that big. Please do post some new pics soon - I would love to see how she looks. I'm actually surprised at Hudson's coat - it isn't really growing much. I know others have had coat trims by now and Hudson certainly doesn't need one. His coat is very thick and just wavey. I love the way he looks - probably just because I love him so much, but I was expecting the coat to grow longer. Well, I hope your husband is doing o.k. and wish you the very best for 2009! Please let me know how Tula makes out with the removal.

He is almost 2 years old now and I couldn't ask for a better dog. He hasn't had any real obedience training, yet I never have to put him on a leash. He has been going to the nursing home where I work since he was a young pup.

- Hi Terri! Nice to hear from you. Both Lisa (actually Lexie) and I had the same thing. Lisa had Lexie's removed when she was spayed. Hudson's went away on its own before he was neutered. I forget the medical term for them - Lisa did a really good job at describing them back on our group page. Basically they occur in puppy mouths and yes they are contagious to other dogs. They don't really do anything other than exist. They have a life cycle of about 2 months and that is almost exactly how long Hudson's stayed around and then it started shrinking and finally disappeared. Just to clarify, they are contagious to other dogs, not to people. I didn't have Hudson's removed because he wasn't in contact with other dogs at the time. I also understand that once they are removed or go away, they don't return. My vet told me she had seen puppies with mouths completely full of them - its viral and not much else you can do. I would think that as long as they are only a few of them the operation would be very simple and once done recovery is very quick. If you go back to our group page I think Lisa and I were discussing around page 8 - October time frame. Let me know if you have any other questions. How is Tula doing other than that? Hudson is still my dream boy even though he is in his teen years now :-)

- Teresa, how are you and Tula doing? Is she enjoying the snow? Lexie keeps wanting outside just to lay on the snow covered deck! Sometimes it is -0' outside and I have to go out and get her. Have you gotten her groomed yet? We have an appointment for this next week. First hair cut. Lexie was laying with the telephone between her from paws. It looked like she was waiting for a phone call. I walked into the room and I asked what the phone was doing there? My husband replied.... "She is expecting a call from her sister Tula!"
Hah! I had to laugh because that is what it looked like! I hope all is well. Talk to you soon. Lisa

- I just looked at Tula's pics of her on the stairs. You were so right! I can't believe how much her and Hudson are similar - these kids. Even to the point of liking to lie on stairs the same way. Wonder if this is a common trait in Doodles. Anyway, she is so adorable - just like my boy :-)
