"My Jaxon has similar markings. While he has always had most of them, some do occur if there was hair loss at that particular site (ie. area shaved for an i.v.). Nothing to be alarmed about, but defs get checked if it concerns you. "

"Gavin has had this when licking a certain area.  The vet says it is yeast growth.  Gav was put on anti-biotics for a different issue and it took care of it."

"He hasn't been scratching himself, I've noticed him lick himself in those areas but not enough to make it red..unless he's doing it when were not around"

"This is very, very common from licking and yeast overgrowth. There is nothing serious about it but you can search DK and find lots of discussion, and possible remedies."

"Has he been scratching, biting or licking himself in these areas? Butt scooting? Dark red discoloration of the paws is a common sign of inhalant allergies, but this is the wrong time of year for that in most places."

"It's probably not even a inch long, has no more curl to it at all. I hope I made the right decision on getting him cut, I just felt bad because it was like he was wearing a winter coat in the summer."
