Today I have a newfound sympathy for patients and parents at work. From my perspective I look up and three hours has gone by, and it seems totally normal that results from tests aren't back yet. From…Continue

Aging in doodles – is this normal?

Ava turned 7 in September. She’s my first large dog, and I know that makes a difference. Papillons are barely adults at 7. And I know Ava didn’t come from the best place or have the best medical care…Continue

"Do you have a suggestion for which dryer? They seem to run from $70 - 500+. I use a high velocity dryer at the dog wash, but they don't have all of the nozzles, and I'm sure it's not the highest quality they make. That's where I…"

drying big doodles

Do you all dry your big guys until they're completely dry? If so, can I ask how you accomplish it? I took Ava to the self wash today. I always want to see her after she's totally dry, but we are always over it before it happens. I was talking to the groomer and she said that even with her Chris Christensen dryer it would take 3 hours to get Ava totally dry. She has a lot of hair! I can't imagine Ava or I ever making it through a 3 hour drying session. I get her mostly dry, but 5 hours later she…See More

Profile Information

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Katie is my first doodle. She's a miniature f1b goldendoodle. She's a total sweetheart. I also have a 14 year old papillon named Olivia. And the latest addition is Ava. She's Katie's mom. A standard f1 goldendoodle. And the biggest love.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder, Rehome
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I love the way they look. And I love that beyond grooming they aren't physically altered in any way.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
The dog park, but not just any dog park. Our favorite is a 53 acre off leash area with hiking trails and lake access. We love to go hike and then Katie likes to swim.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major, Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Groomer
Relationship Status:
Single
Would you be willing to Dog Sit on occasion for other DoodleKisses members? (You are NOT committing to anything by saying yes - you are just saying you might be willing to do this if you were acquainted with the other member and the circumstances were right.)

the doodles scared a possom "to death"

Posted on November 28, 2016 at 5:42pm 15 Comments

I swear I do not live in the country! I live in a suburb very near the center of my town. It’s not a huge town, but it’s definitely not the country! And it’s far more developed than the subdivision I moved from a year ago – maybe that’s the problem. There was more room for the wildlife to be out in the woods. But I have seen more possums in the yard since I moved here than ever before – in fact I’m sure that I never got up close and personal with one until we moved here.  But the dogs and I…

Stacy, your Doodles are beautiful! I also have my puppy's mother. Daphne was my first Doodle and a year later, Lucy was retired from breeding and needed a forever home. We just love her to pieces!

Hi!  I saw your comment on buying bras in bulk!  lol

I am no expert, but look at how you react to the 'thief' when you find her.  What worked for us, was correcting our pup as soon as possible, with a 'NO' and putting an appropriate toy in his mouth.  We worked on the command 'drop it' as soon as possible too.  They are curious little pups, and they love a good game of chase.  It could be she just enjoys your attention when you find your bras.  We used to have a parrot, and we learned that negative attention is just as good as positive attention.

it sounds like she might test you on EVERYTHING in the house. And as they grow, they find more interesting things, but most of all, just want your entire focus, and will do things just to get your attention!!  teaching independent appropriate playtime is a chore, but well worth it.  being consistent is the key to success!!  hope it gets better
