You are all brave souls! I wish I could do it. I still keep up on the website weekly to see what's going on and look at the puppies. Lisa, so you will have a 1/2 sibling of Lexie. It will be so cute to see the similarities.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I have a goldendoodle named Gibson. He is 3 months old.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I grew up with a standard poodle and also had one as my first dog when I was on my own. I love the breed and the more I read about the mix with a retriever, it sounded like a perfect combo.
funny, i imagine that was gibson i saw yesterday. he was a beautiful dog, definitely more white than apricot. do you ever take gibson to the dog beach on montrose? we spent about an hour down there this morning, fozzie was in heaven. when i get him groomed, i just explain to the groomer that i like him shaggy and very fluffy... they typically even him out a bit, trim his beard and hair that flops around his eyes. they do a good job, he usually comes out looking like a sheep dog. we'll probably need to go with a shorter cut this summer, though. he seems to get hot easily.
hi sarah, i live in andersonville and take fozzie to stay for grooming. they are in the lincoln square area and do a very nice job. i like fozzie to maintain his shaggy long hair... but still take him there about every 6-weeks. fozzie doesn't mat (yet), so we can keep his hair longer. stay is great. they also have a wonderful day care facility. i would highly recommend it to anyone. ps: my husband and i were driving south down clark today and saw a dog that looked exactly like ours (fozzie). same mannerisms, floppy white hair, etc. i've seen many goldendoodles but never one that looked so much like fozzie... am wondering if we passed by your pooch! we were in lakeview around clark and surf (or not... can't recall exactly now. sort of in the belmont / diversey area). have a good weekend!
Sarah, I put the attachment to this checklist on the grooming forum under the topic "How often to the groomer". See http://doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/how-often-to-the-groomer
Let me know if you cannot find it and I can send it another way.
Lisa
Hi Sarah! Lexie weighs about 56 pounds. We took her to our local groomer in town. I found a check list that you can take to the groomers with you, so they know what you want in a doodle cut. I cannot find the original website, but have the file. What is your email address?
Ok great, I was looking for the Pinnacle food at Pet smart but didn't see it. I will have to go to Kriser's. I live in West Lakeview, off of Lincoln and School. We are so excited because there are so many dog friendly restaurants and stores in our area. Wiggley Field is on our list of places to go when he gets bigger! Do you have a dog walker?
Hey,
I was just searching the paw pad group and saw you are from Lakeview, I am too. We are getting a mini doodle on Jan 24, from paw pad. Any suggestions for a vet or good shops in the area for our new addition??
Gibson is sooo cute. He's getting big. He looks like a bigger version of Beckett. Beckett goes back to the vets for a second try at neutering! I hope this time goes well with no scares. I'm so nervous. How was Gibson's surgery? Beck had a bad reaction to the meds. so they wanted to wait a month and try again Keep your fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.
Regarding the nipping - I will give you my 2 cents worth and it has worked for me with every puppy I have owned - and there has been a few. I find that anytime you make a big deal about something with a puppy, they hold onto that continue the behavior. Its almost as if they figure out how to "tease" you with it or annoy you with it. So the nipping - Hudson doesn't nip anymore - he does try to chew on me though. When he first started nipping, which is a very natural behaviour with puppies amongst themselves, I would actually take my fingers and put them into his mouth rubbing his gums. He would try to gnaw but couldn't because my hand/fingers were in his mouth. I don't do this as a punishment - it actually allows me to feel inside his mouth and check out his teeth and massage his gums. Not everyone will want to do this because they may find it a little painful - personally I don't. What I find is that after doing this process several times, he stops nipping but will try to get me to massage his gums. He doesn't do this to anyone else - just me. In the past, I found that after a while, they just stop the habit completely. Try it with a glove if you don't want to use your bare hand. Its always worked for me and stops the nipping very quickly. Obviously if he is trying to bite that is a different story and needs to be handled differently.
Hi Sarah. How is Gibson doing? I can't believe how much he and Hudson look alike. Please post some new pics soon! I was at the Vet on the 20th and he is now 26 lbs. Gibson is also a very cute name - funny because Gibson and Hudson are sort of similar names. I can't believe how smart these guys are. Anyway, please post some new pics when you can. I'll put some more up this weekend - I have a great video that I will try to post - but it might be too long.
