- About Me:
- I've had a lot of dogs in my life but I never really understood how much they can really become your children until I got my Socs. He's my pride and joy, my baby and my best friend! He makes me smile every time I look at him, and he makes me laugh about something everyday. Life is just better with him around!!
I joined IDOG (International Doodle Owners Group) last year and just had my first foster! A Doodle mix about 5 months old that someone abandoned, the shelter was going to put her down because she said she nipped...except she really just needed someone to work with her on puppy teething. She was an absolute joy to have and Socs and I worked hard to help her learn, we just found her an amazing family that loves her dearly. This experience was great for both Socs and myself, we look forward to helping many more Doodles find their forever homes!
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- Socrates is a 6 month old, Apricot colored standard F1 Goldendoodle. He is the sweetest, smartest, most affectionate dog I have ever seen! This little boy defines the term 'companion animal.' He is happiest just hanging out with us, regardless of what we are doing. He also loves going for runs, riding in the car and being carried like a little baby, even though he has far surpassed the size of a lap dog! We also have a cat, a 1 year old named Cinnamon. Socs and Cinnamon have a love/hate relationship, but they enjoy playing together.
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?
- Breeder
- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- I have wanted a dog for some time but was unable to have one in my college apartment. I had plenty of time to research different breeds, and once I stumbled upon the Goldendoodle I knew I had to have one! I have read only positive things about the breed, and my Socrates has proved every one of those things true!
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- I love to snuggle with him, he's very fluffy! We also love to go for walks and play tug of war. Just watching him be a silly puppy makes me happy!
- Does your doodle(s) shed?
- A little bit but nothing major
- Who grooms your doodle(s)?
- I do, but he goes to a local groomer every few months for a thorough bath and trim.
- Favorite Doodle Products?
- We would be lost without the Kong toys!! Socs pretty much destroys every toy I give him except his Kongs. They keep him entertained while I'm at work. I'm also a fan of FluffyPuppy conditioning shampoo, it makes his fur very soft and manageable, and it smells good!

Holly Doodle said… - Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you! I took Holly to the dog park in Waterloo and had a really bad experience, but I've never taken her to the one in Cedar Falls. I've heard good things but it's so hard to trust other peoples dogs, and the owners too :). I would be fine bringing her to your acreage, she does well with coming when called for the most part, and I couldn't see her trying to run off. We'll figure something out, let me know what you think!

That sounds great! I currently am working until 6:00 every night, but starting in July I should be done each day by 2 or 3:00, so maybe that would work better. Do you think there's somewhere we could meet? We don't have a fenced in yard so we have to take her to friends and families houses to borrow their yards. What about you?

- We had the same situation in our puppy class! We've started taking her to doggie daycare once a week to interact with other dogs, it's been a huge help. She's got a lot of energy and loves to play. She only weighs 30 lbs at just over 7 months. She's also supposed to be a standard but I don't think she'll get too big either. Feel free to share any cute stories :). Hope you have a Happy New Year!
