Deb, Connor & Simon said… Hi Ron,
I've just seen your post and thought I'd comment. Zack's response to the cortisteroid shot is pretty typical - dogs drinks tons of water, of course go to the bathroom more and can have a greatly increased appetite. It does the same to humans. The one time my Connor had an "allergy shot" he had the above symptoms as well as excessive panting and could just not seem to relax. I said never again!
Karen is absolutely right. Get your vet to give you a recommendation for a vet dermatologist. The dermatologist can assist in pinpointing what is causing the reaction and determine the direction that can be taken to relieve the itching.
Connor has seasonal contact allergies. My collie has severe food allergies. Many times a general DVM just doesn't know how to treat an allergic dog effectively.
Please let us know how he's doing.

Karen & Jackdoodle said… Hi Ron,
Nobody can respond when you "send a message to group". That's really meant for group administrators to make announcements to the group.
You need the groups for dogs with allergies. The group to which you sent your message is for people who have dog allergies and have doodles who shed.
You also need a veterinary dermatology specialist. Vetalog is a horrible drug, injected steroids are not recommended, when dogs need steroids, they should be given orally if possible. The side effects you are describing are typical for steroids. It has nothing to do with the vaccines, but your vet is not experienced with allergies in dogs, apparently.
Post your message as a discussion in the health & medical issues group, or request to join the Atopic Dermatitis group and post it there. Your dog has seasonal allergies, also called inhalant allergies or environmental allergies. It's genetic and originates from the immune system. We have lots of information on this in both groups i mentionbed, but not in the shedding dogs/owner allergies group.
