Scenario:
You live in an area called "Tornado Alley" and your town has already experienced two devastating F-4 and F-5 tornados over the last 12-years.
Would you not expect your schoold to be equipped with tornado safe shelters or non-flooding basements?
Or... are not the lives of Oklahoma kids worth the few thousand dollars it would take to protect them?
Along the same lines... A non-intrudable security door would have protected the kids at the Sandy Hook,…

We were at a rescue event in Irvine, CA and a woman came up to us and asked if she could trade in her dog for a smaller one. I thought at first that she was joking but, she was totally serious. The dog at ten pounds was bigger than she wanted.
I told her that we would accept her Maltese as an owner surrender but there would be no way that she would get a dog from us. She was indignant and said, "I haven't had the dog all that long, just 9-months!"
There…

We went to an adoption event today with our Scottish Terrier + Maltese cross: Terra (for terrier) and her three male puppies: Huey, Dewey and Louie. Terra, Dewey and Louie got adopted. I brought one puppy home. We now have no adult fosters in our home and just three puppies. That is being empty nesters for the Crowe house...
We will probably keep our numbers down since we are traveling to Venice, Greece and Istanbul soon and also we have additional fosters to help us.

This is not just a random remark.

The two black and white pups are males and the brown and white puppy is their sister...
Their mom, Katie, is a Bischon/Maltese mix...…
ContinueI know you are political and would find this interesting. I saw this video on Facebook yesterday and went back today to see it again and send to some friends and it was GONE. A friend, however, copied down the address and could share with me. Funny how quickly something like this can disappear.

Amy M. and Molly said… Hi Richard! I am still navigating this site slowly and finally getting back to you. Would love to get Holly and Molly together sometime as well! Your picture of Holly with the litter of puppies is just adorable. How old is Holly? And did you get her locally? My email address is aimnrog@aol.com. Molly has had a bout of gastroenteritis this last week or so and is still on antibiotics, but once that clears up maybe we could meet for a romp! Amy
Andrew Bliss said… Thank you for the nice comment about the litter picture. We know the breeders very well and it sounds like almost all the puppies are going to people that are close to them. Hopefully all of the puppies and new owners will have years of happiness ahead of them. We are looking forward to this Sunday when we take ours home with us.
Chloe, Finley & Mama Shelley said… Your Holly is beautiful, and I wanted to mention that I have a sweet little "grand doggie named Tinkerbell and she is a Maltese, i just love her to pieces!
Joanne ~ Spud* said… Hi Richard,
Need some info or a lead in WI area. One of my adopters of a foster a few years back just lost her Maltese of 17 years and has begun to search for another. Any ideas on WI?
Richard, Thank you for your comment to me about minimally invasive spine surgery. If I had known there was a spine center in San Diego, I would have gone there, as I have family in Carlsbad! I was able to read your message, but unable to find a way to respond with the computer we had with us in AZ. Your message eased my fears dramatically. I was very pleased with the Spine Institute in Scottsdale and am so excited to be walking again without horrendous sciatica. I need to go through PT and gain my strength back and am completely up for the task. I am so thrilled, I can hardly believe it! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my blog. All the best, Lauria

Ellen, Brûlée, and Tira said… You and your wife have hearts of gold. I am so moved by the love you are sharing with your many doggie residents and visitors! You truly remind me of St. Francis...!
And your photography is a delight! That 300mm of yours is a super lens, and you use it to its finest advantage. Really does a splendid job with the background when going for a shallow depth of field!
Happy Veterans' Day to you and your wife!
