My husband and I both worked mostly elementary.  He has taught everything from K to 12 regular and special ed. He taught the first elementary autism class in our district, he taught home/hospital, one on one. In the summers both of us taught severely handicapped students from preschool to young adult.  His 'real' love though was elementary.  I taught regular ed, mostly primary until I began teaching Resource - elementary.  I taught that for about 18 years.  We both really loved teaching, but realized that we were not in favor of  the current trend in education.  We were old enough to retire so we did.  We love being retired - it is like summer all the time.  Awesome.  And jealous of 10 degrees - not so much.  It is sprinkling here again today and in the 60's.  Gee, we might turn on the heater......  :-}

Hi Renee! Monreaux is adorable!! Love the name too by the way! Did you get him at Old Mill Doodles? She has Sproodles there as well as Goldendoodles & I would LOVE to have one. We have 2 goldendoodles from there and they are the love of my life.   Hopefully we will see you and Monreaux sometime when we all get together at Stony Point (or somewhere!) for a Doodle gathering!!

Your doodle looks like a Springerdoodle with his coloring. Such a cutie. My parents and sister had Springer Spaniels and the color pattern is so similar. Monreaux could not be any cuter!

HI Renee! Welcome to the GRAD group! I saw where you are looking for a rescue doodle to add to your family. Being the mom of a wonderful goldendoodle who was a puppy mill rescue, I think it is wonderful idea! :-) I found Connor (as a puppy) on www.petfinder.com (start by looking under Standard Poodle when it asks for breed). There are also listings on www.idog.biz. Get in touch with Jacquie at Doodle Rescue Collective, inc., tell her what you're looking for, fill out an app, get pre-approved, so when your dog/pup comes along, you'll be ready to go. Often, there are rescues being fostered in VA. Check the bottom of the DK main page for Doodles in Need of Homes often.

In the meantime, check the Discussion section of the GRAD group page. If you attend one of our informal get togethers, you'll find out a lot by talking with other owners, and who knows who you might meet ...
