I have been told this is the easiest coat to maintain, but I wonder sometimes if a shedder would be easier! LOL Does Gracie mat easily? It sounds like you spend lots of time on the beach and if so, I would imagine you probably need to keep her a little shorter, or not?
I am also retired and I try to brush Charlie head, legs & tail every morning. Once I week, I like to get through his whole body just so I know what is going on with him.
We have a deposit on a second doodle - the litter was born Aug 5th. I do not know if we will get one from that litter as it depends on whether the temperament testing is comparable to Charlie's. Charlie is so laid-back and my biggest fear (other than never having two dogs at one time) is that we will get some crazy off-the-wall puppy!! So we are now in the waiting stages. The puppies are 5 wks today and will be tested at 7 weeks.
I hope you will enjoy this site. Have you had a chance to check out the groups section on the main page. There is a group discussing calendar photos right now and the photos must be submitted by Sept. 23. Gracie is such a doll, you should consider entering a photo of her for one of the calendars that will be printed for 2013.
