Debb, Lucy & Oscar said… Okay, well, last night I brushed Oscar's beard with baking soda again before bed and left it on overnight. It did appear lighter this morning, however, it was completely dry (unlike most times during the day when its wet, and darker). Good to know it really should be rinsed off. Thanks.
Debb, Lucy & Oscar said… Hey Patti, regarding your suggestion of water and baking soda for beard staining, do you leave it on to dry after brushing it on or just brush out the stain while its wet? I just did it, but realized I didn't know what to do afterward. Oscar took a big drink after and I'm afraid it all got washed off anyway! LOL! Oh, BTW, Willow is adorable.. she reminds me so much of my Lucy in the way she looks. Very feminine and girly like.
Willow is so adorable, it is sad to read that she has battled so many issues in her short life. I sincerely hope she is doing better and able to find joy instead of fear in her world.
Ricki and Tara (doodle) said… Yes, it would have. :( Years ago I had a dog that began having seizures after an eye surgery. Of course there is not much Allopathic medicine can do about that except treat with drugs. I worked with two well known Holistic vets and no success. I found a site on line and I don't normally do this but I was so desperate that I decided to give it a try. It was a Holistic Vet in Australia that does a "Bioscan" of your pet and determines the cause of the problem and then she creates the remedy(remedies) specifically for your pet. (not off the shelf). They were homeopathic but the nice thing was that I could just put them on the skin and not have to drop in the mouth. Anyhow, long story but his seizures did stop permanently. I was quite impressed. And I did research the vet before I bought in and she is pretty well known and seems solid. So I will give you the web site and you can do with it as you wish...delete. file away or whatever. In the upper right corner of the page there is an orange button "Need expert advise?" That will take you to the consultation page. The cost in U.S. dollars is less then the stated price because of the exchange rate or was at that time. Not sure what the exchange rate is anymore. I wish all the best to you and Willow and hope you find her answer soon.

Ronna, Murphy & Wilson said… Hi Patti, I just saw your update. Have you discussed using a diferent med for Willow? I know several people that have said Clomipramine did nothing for their dogs but other meds worked wonders. I think it is just like with humans, you have to experiment a little. Murphy had his appointment with the behaviorist last week and she put him on Trazadone twice daily and an extra at first sign of a storm. I can already tell a difference. Hugs to you both.
Ricki and Tara (doodle) said… Hi Patti, I just saw your update about Willow and am sorry that you didn't get good results with the meds. I see that you are open to holistic medicine and was wondering if you have consulted with a homeopathic vet about Willow's fear? I was also wondering if her symptoms started after she got her first or second rabies shot? Not immediately but was she okay before the shot (s) but has since developed fear issues? I've been reading up on the rabies vaccine (hate, hate hate them!) and see that behavioral changes are a common side effect of that vaccine. It must be heartbreaking to see her in such a state...so sorry.
