What did you mean by - pulled them out himself - did you mean the nail? You know...Eddies are growing side ways too.

HERE IS A PICTURE OF OZZY'S DEW CLAW BEFORE SURGERY....I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO HAVE IT REMOVED YOU CAN SEE HOW IT WAS GROWING AND AT 85 POUNDS HE WOULD HAVE CAUSE MORE DAMAGE TO HIMSELF I THOUGHT.

If the dew claws are removed in newborn puppies the removal is much easier but probably still traumatic. There is a reason for the dew claws in terms of agility maneuvers and holding things. I don't think the nail grows quicker but it doesn't get wo…

My vet asked me if I wanted them removed when I got Lilly spayed at 8 months. So while she was under I had it done. We had no trouble with it healing , I just had to keep them wrapped a couple of days.

I was concerned with this when Bear was neutered but my vet said it was like removing a body part and it's not necessary unless he snags it or has problems with them, and then it would be the time to think about removing them. I think my vet would h…

I guess it is up to each person and how they feel about the surgery. Ozzy ( a heavy weight Doodle) had both of his removed last year in March. He turned 1 on April 4th. Ozzy's were growing in upside down. I tried to keep them cut short but, my Ozzy…

Happy to hear everything went well with Eddie.. The fun part was trying to keep Ozzy's feet dry until they healed....

Thanks Miles for your comments on my page and pics. I love your doodles name, Eddie. I have a grandson with the same name. I also see you use a mobile groomer, aren't they the best. We just got one in our area about 3 months ago. I am hooked, love love love it.

Welcome. When I commented on your doodle yesterday I didn't realize he is Calla's brother. He was from the Jan'09 litter I think, right? Thankfully Calla was the smallest in the litter and she now weighs 47 pounds, more than enough for me. The do have very similar faces.
