Math teacher and dog fanatic. My other hobbies are hiking, photography, lapidary, silversmith, digital painting, fishing. I had the best dog ever to share that with me and lost her to kidney failure in October(2010). She was half yellow lab(mom) and half golden retriever(dad).
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I'm getting a labradoodle puppy the first week of March(2011). I have first pick from a litter of 11 F1b standard labradoodles. I am leaning toward two of the darker females with the kinky hair, but a large male with a smoother coat has also caught my eye. My profile picture is a digital painting from a photo I took when I went to the breeder's place last week. Needless to say, I cannot wait even though I know puppy training takes a lot of time. I've done it before though and wouldn't miss the bonding.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Swimming ability and able to withstand wet climates. I live right on the edge of a rain forest trail that I hike every day. I was hesitant at first due to my misconception of the poodle breed, but after learning the history of the standard poodle(gun/water dogs), I knew a labradoodle was for me.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Swim, hike, travel the western states looking for rocks & having an adventure.... future tense.
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
It will be me & I have already invested in the equipment.

I think about 2 inches is a good length for ease of care. It also should be enough to hold some insulating air I think. And those temps. are not really low for a doodle. You are so diligent, combing and brushing daily.
Your place sounds lovely. I love all of those trees!!!!!
Eva Cassidy! Fabulous... I have downloaded what I could find of hers on You Tube. She was so very gifted...just lovely.
Yes, the back surgery was a bit different than what I could find here. The place where I went does minimally invasive procedures only. I could not find anyone locally that did this. They can do 4 procedures to one disc space, if needed, and that is all they do...spine surgery. It was a life changing procedure for me, as I had gotten very impaired. I did not have general anesthesia, they used meds given for the colonoscopy type procedures. That was good, as I generally get nauseated with anesthesia. My Father was an Orthopedic surgeon and he had advised me to avoid surgery if possible. This was no longer something I could put off. I had pretty debilitating spinal stenosis caused by a herniated disc and stenosis of the foramina and facet joints. I have another disc that looks bad on MRI, but I don't have symptoms like I did with the other, so that was left alone. I may have to deal with that someday. If you ever have to consider this, I would highly recommend the clinic I went to. It was an out-patient procedure. I hope they build a center in the NW, or that the Orthopedists here begin routinely do these surgeries.
I hope you are enjoying your NW fall day! I am sipping on hot cider after my Doodle walk in the park....gorgeous!
