My city is just starting to be infested with ticks, so this is all new to me. I've owned a dog all my life (37 years) and have only seen one tick which was two years ago.  I am now starting to see a…Continue

"Chloe doesn't shed at all either.  But because of not shedding, the undercoat gets tangled easily. That's why I brush her so often and pull out the undercoat that doesn't shed for her :)   Yeti is adorable by the way!!!"

"You can have your doodle trimmed at any point. Actually, the more you get the dog used to grooming, the more easier it will be on the dog and their groomer.  You should never have the coat completely shaved, as the fur does act as an insulator…"

"A slicker brush and a fine toothed comb should do the trick.  And practice the line brushing technique (link to a video below).  As for the amount of hair coming off...it all depends on the dog and on how often you brush them.  If I…"

"Nexgard scares me. I did google it and oh my! Lots of seizures and paralysis reported. They are all pretty scary really which is why I'm trying the natural route (so far so good)."

"Oh!! Me too! LOL  Funny our vet didn't mention Nexguard.  I'll have to ask about it next year if the ticks are still bad up here. "

"Yes, I'm aware that they have side effects, but I try not to Google too much or I'll be even more paranoid.  I looked at actual Bravecto released reports of side effects AND I spoke to a few different vet techs (at other vet clinics)…"

"They all have horrible side effects if you google them!! I chose not to use Advantix because of the neurological side effects I had read about. I'm using nexgard and so far so good!!"

"My vet actually recommended Bravecto from my list above, and I'm a little shocked.  I did more research on it and the side effects were TERRIBLE - the most common reported was vomiting and diarrhea. Chloe already suffers with intestinal…"

"Yes, please let me know how it works.  The vet told me to go with Bravecto, but I'm not liking the possible side effects.  I think I'd rather give a monthly dose of something rather than something so strong that it lasts 12…"

"I think 3-4 times a year is manageable if they are spaced out. From my research, it looks like a lot of the issues arise with long term constant usage; Although an instant reaction is always a risk. This is my first summer trying the natural route.…"

"That is a smart way to go. I'm still very unsure about using chemical treatments on my dogs too. Although, it would only be for 3-4 months since we have heavy snow and cold winters."

"Thanks! After much thought and a ton of research I have decided to stop with the chemical treatments. I have decided to go the natural route. I'm having my yard treated and then using Food Grade DE around the house and around her play areas…"

Profile Information

About Me:
I'm an animal lover and love the outdoors. I have always had a dog in my life since I was a baby, and I think my life would be rather dull without one. I work full time at a radio station as a Sales Administrator and am currently doing a dog grooming course. I love spending time with my husband and the dogs who are all spoiled.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I have a Goldendoodle. Her name is Chloe. She is 2 1/2 years old and very active. Her favourite thing to do is play, play and play some more. She loves Frisbee, ball and swimming. She shares her home with her brother Koda (8 year old Black Lab), and her sister Mollie (12 year old Beagle).
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Rescue, Rehome
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
My aunt has a doodle type dog and I love his personality and his looks so we decided to add Chloe to our family. I also like the fact that they are low to non-shedding dogs

My favourite thing to do with Chloe and the other dogs is take long hikes in the bush trails, camping and snuggling of course.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!

Posted on April 25, 2017 at 8:59am 5 Comments

Well it's spring time here in Northern Ontario. To most people Spring time means warmer weather, fresh beginnings, sweet smell of fresh air. Well, to us it means rain, rain, wet snow, rain and more rain.  Most of our winter snow has melted, but we have just gotten a few inches of wet, sticky snow over night; it will melt by tomorrow as it is supposed to be fairly warm +13°C.  My issues with this weather is that Chloe will not go pee or poop in the backyard now that the snow is gone and the…
