I scissor cut both my doodles to about 3/4" on their body and about 1 1/4- 1 1/2 on their legs. They seem comfortable and happy but never look shaved. It's not hard once you get the hang of it. One is very curly, the other very thick- wavy fleece- b…
I went through this with Beck, I tried everything and finally settled on grain free Taste of The Wild, I recently switched to the Costco grain free that is made by the same company as TOTW and he is doing just as well on that. If/when you switch mak…
bribe her with really high value treats, something like tiny bits of chicken or dried liver. Hold them in front of her nose and when she is sniffing the treat hold the brush near her, if she still is interested in the treat, then give it to her and…
just take her where you want her to go, you might put a 1' piece of lead on her collar and keep it there to give you a handy way to get her to go with you. sometimes making a sharp noise like a loud EH EH!! the second they growl will get them to sto…
dogs usually growl because they are frightened, hitting her will just make her more afraid. What kind of training techniques do you use? I would suggest that you start working on come so that she will not hide under tables or anywhere else and will…
he's sooo cute! My boy Murphy looked much the same at that age except he's cream color and now he has a full beard and mustache at about 7 months, I get sopping wet all day long from him wiping his wet face on me after he drinks water so be careful…
Is it just a doggy odor? I don't know anything about the puppy, but I have noticed that some flat coated labradoodles do have a distinct doggy odor. I have two, a wool coat and a non-shedding wavy fleece, the only time they get a doggy odor is when…
I like "Reaching the Animal Mind" by Karen Pryor. She's a big advocate of clicker training, but this book goes beyond that and discusses how how clicker training works, and why it works.
I have no use for Cesar Milan, his alpha /dominance nonsense is not based on any kind of science. It can do significant damage to a dog that is already reactive or fearful. I have NO tolerance for any dog trainer who advocates the use of choke chain…
That's all BS. There is nothing inherently 'aggressive' about Pit Bulls, there is something seriously wrong with some of their gangster owner/breeders, but a properly raised and loved pit bull is a fine companion dog. In a number of tests for aggres…
I recently switched from TOTW to Costo's grain free Salmon & Sweet potato "Nature's domain" the formulation is very close to TOTW, and it's about $27 for 35 pounds.
I just looked at my petplan policy and they do have a 30% copay for specialist referrals, and for ER visits UNLESS it is a true emergency. I have had two claims and no problems with either one, payment is prompt and the customer service is great. Bo…
I have Pet Plan and love it! I have a limit of $7500 a year, $50 deductible and 10% co-pay. I pay $27 a month each for 2 dogs. They are wonderful and handle claims quickly and don't try to get out of paying them. You can adjust the amount of deducti…
I think it's completely normal, at 5-6 months puppies seem to go through a phase where they 'forget' everything they learned. Murphy is 6 months and he has been trained NOT to go in the kitchen since he was around 13-14 weeks- well 3 days in a row h…
I live in Reno with my husband our two dogs and birds. I am very lucky that I can spend all day with my pets because I telecommute.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I have a chocolate labradoodle, Beck- he was whelped on January 5, 2009 and is the love of my life, Beck is now our Aussie Kira's BFF. Kira is a somewhat anxious old girl, nearly 9 and has suffered with lupus her whole life, she and Beck romp like they are both puppies, it's a delight to watch
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
My husband and I set out to search for the perfect dog about 6 months ago. We both have become concerned about some of the genetic problems in 'purebreds' and wanted to avoid that, but we did want a healthy pup and one that was both calm & curious- we are so lucky- our little Beck is absolutely perfect
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Everything!
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
a lady here in town grooms him in her home, mostly just baths now to get him used to grooming

Thanks, Lynne for your comment. I appreciate it! We've been waiting months for this puppy and have read several books in preparation of having the best puppy to live with. We know people whose dogs are great with their owners but not so great with others (especially in the manners department). We want our dog to be well behaved around everyone. This is our first (and after Lucy's arrival we wonder why we waited so long) so we're trying to do things right.
Adrianne Matzkin is the lady that contacted me, and I do believe that they might have a transport system set up, she just needs someone to pull him. I also searched DK for people in the northern part of NV and left messages with them regarding this boy. I also am not allowed a third :( I would take him in a heartbeat if I could!
Hi Lynne, just reaching out and passing along a doodle that needs adoption in the Elko shelter. He looks just like my Buddy, really breaks my heart. If you know of anyone looking to adopt in the area, please pass this guys info along.
Thanks so much!
Gina
