In the mail today I received a box with a wonderful "Thinking of You" card telling me to just be sure to take care of myself with all sorts of wonderful goodies to pamper myself including the most required pampering item there is (which of course is chocolate). This box touched me in ways I can never even begin to appropriately express. The reason being, it was from a young college student. We all know that college students are usually living on Raman Noodles and stretching every single…

As I sat at my desk this morning reading over all of the e-mails we have received this week from so many of Sophie's friends, I was reading one from one of our very own, most popular ladies here on DK. It was at that very moment that someone knocked (very firmly I might ad) on the front door and I about fell off my chair. The reason for the knock is one that will change me forever. The Fed Ex man had left a package at our door. Inside the box was the softest, warmest, most cuddly…

At first we thought we would do invisible fence .... That was a wasted $1200
Then we decided regular fencing would be safer ..... I'm embarrassed to say how much that was .....
Then we figured out that about 6-8 months of the year the yard was entirely too wet for them to get to play outside anyway. After this Spring and our so many inches of rain above the normal rainfall that I completely lost count, mowing mud instead of grass, and months of the girls sitting…

Melissa and Ernest said… We are doing really well! He is a true champion at potty training, and he's doing awesome in his crate at night. The main issue we are having is chewing/biting, but judging by what I am reading on DK, I am not alone! He had the so-called "zoomies" for the first time last night, which was fun to watch. I'm trying to work on getting him used to walking on a leash, which is a slow process, but he is making progress. How is AnnaBelle adjusting?
Sara and Birdie said… Thanks for your sweet comment on my page!! Birdie is a cute name isn't it?! I guess great minds think alike.:) Maybe for your next doodle you should have a birdie.
Okay, I will give it a try. There is a photo link here, so maybe, never done it before. So, here is Hondo's memorial stone. It is starting to fade a little because of the rain, but it is made of alabaster and that is pretty soft. We put it next to the hammock because that was Hondo's favorite place. He loved to lie in the hammock with me and I would sing to him. Sounds silly, I know, but it was special to both of us. Hey, it worked! Have a wonderful mother's day, and foster mother's day, and new mother's day. You fit them all.
Laurie, Fudge & Vern said… Sheri, We used to say the same things about kids and that is why we only had two :) I can't help but hope you exceed your quota and keep Honey, too. Of course, it is not my life, time, and energy, so I know best...LOL! I hope Lucy is getting used to all the changes and eventually comes around to loving the newest one. So much to look forward to reading about in the coming months!
Sheila & Finnley said… Oh dear Sheri, heartbreaking, and yet joyful too. Hugs to you on a hard decision to remove someone's name who was so special, and loved. ♥ However no one on this site will ever forget Sophie, even if her name is not there. A loving and warm welcome to Annabelle. She will provide some much needed laughter, and help starting to fill a
large hole in your heart. ♥
Saw your note to Laurie about deleting Sophie. I can definitely relate, because my all-time favorite dog is lurking there in our past also. I just can't delete his photos, name, etc. We have a stone in our garden with his name and dates and the box with his ashes still in our living room. I had the same problem when our daughter died in 1978. We put her ashes in a box we had made (oak and needlepoint) and I wrapped them in her blanket and they were in our closet until Charlie's grandmother said she wanted the ashes to bury in Illinois. So that was that, she was buried in grandma and grandpa's plot and grandma followed a few years later. It is not an easy decision to "delete" someone who was a special part of your past.
Laurie, Fudge & Vern said… Sheri, Maybe Sheila could help you with the angel at the end of your name. It does seem weird not to see Sophies name, but it certainly doesn't lessen how you felt about her. Sometimes, I hate that time marches on, but it does, and we have to do the best we can to march with it. Sophie will never be replaced, but AnnaBelle is going to help you in so many ways. Give Lucy and the new pup a hug from us. I am getting puppy fever so tell me something really bad about having a pup so I don't do something dumb.
Laurie, Fudge & Vern said… Sheri, I just saw your name change. I am sure that was hard, but I am so hoping AnnaBelle helps your family and Lucy heal. Hope all is going well!
