- I'm a Research Microbiologist/Molecular Biologist at The Ohio State University.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- I have an Island Minidoodle (Havana Silk Dog/Toy Poodle hybrid) named Zoey. She is 12 weeks old, about 3 lbs, and has honey colored, slightly wavy hair. I also have a Cavachon (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Bichon Frise) hybrid who is 2 1/2 yrs old and tri-colored.
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?

- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- Initially, I was interested in a Havanese. In the process of researching the breed, I found out that some respected, long-time breeders of Havanese and Havana Silk Dogs were attempting to improve the genetic diversity of genes involved in immune system function by outcrossing with the toy poodle. After reading studies coming out of Helsinki University and U.C. Davis on the subject of canine DLA gene diversity, this made a lot of sense to me. I also wanted a small, intelligent, portable dog that doesn't shed much, and this doodle is a mix of two dogs that both have all those qualities.
