Okay, I have REALLY tried to understand the coat type-thing.  I am just as lost now as I was when I started!  What type of coat does Ridley have?  Here are pics... are they helpful?  Or do they need…Continue

Bringing in dog #2, does it change dog #1?

We have a 6month old golden doodle.  He is EXTREMELY low key and probably the best puppy we could have hoped for, seriously (nothing chewed up, nothing peed on, no barking, etc)!!  My mom has a…Continue

I have noticed that when my mom allows her standard poodles hair to grow, it's real shaggy but when she gets it cute it's classic poodle look.  We have an F1 goldendoodle that is 16weeks old and we…Continue

Cheryl and Finnegan replied to Km's discussion Can you help with what type of coat he is?
"He looks a lot like Finnegan did as a pup.  Fine wavy fleece, but Finn got curlier in spots as he got older -- and his waves change to curls when he's clipped short.  It's a nice coat though because it stays so soft."

Willow and J replied to Km's discussion Can you help with what type of coat he is?
"Haha. I was going to say "It's a Teddybear type of coat!" I still don't understand "fleecy" "wiry" "wooly" etc. - how "wooly" is "wooly"??? But Ridley looks similar to Willow when…"

Amy M. and Molly replied to Km's discussion Can you help with what type of coat he is?
"He looks a lot like my Molly did at that size. She is wavy fleece (at the moment!). She just turned 1 so things may change. He is adorable!"

"Very very cute doodle pup! Mmmmm, I'd say maybe a curly fleece as adult?? But whatever coat develops he's gonna be one nice looking doodle!!"

Bonnie and Kona replied to Km's discussion Can you help with what type of coat he is?
"Ridley is cute as can be! It's probably far too soon to tell. I was going to say wavy fleece then I remembered that Kona had a wavy fleece coat as a pup and now he has fleece/wool. So you will probably have to wait a few more months to know for…"

F, Calla & Luca replied to Km's discussion Can you help with what type of coat he is?
"I think Ridley may end up with a coat a lot like Luca's, which is ver fine textured, wavy fleece. But you never know. Cute pup."

Ginny Nightingale replied to Km's discussion Can you help with what type of coat he is?
"awwww--he is so cute--and that is a very typical puppy coat--toooooo early to tell! But with all that wave, my guess is that he is going to get a bit curlier as he ages--a curly fleece coat--not tight curls, but not straight either."

Lynda Kamrath replied to Km's discussion Bringing in dog #2, does it change dog #1?
"It probably will change your dog because when two of them get together, the dogs are more important to each other than their humans.  You need to set down the rules with them right away.  I always have two dogs and as soon as they start to…"

Karen & Jackdoodle replied to Km's discussion Bringing in dog #2, does it change dog #1?
"My biggest concern would be with your mom's puppy ingesting "the legos/superheroes that my 3 and 7 year old leave laying around everywhere" or getting hold of food that can harm him. You are indeed "lucky that we…"

"Sorry to hear about your Mom and I hope she recovers soon. I only have the one so I really don't have any advice except that you will clearly have lots of re-training for the new pup needed. I think you are correct in trying to keep him for…"

I have sent you a friend request so I can speak with you about breeders more specifically. Also, please do some reading on our site to give you a better idea about doodles--for example, many doodles shed!! There is a lot of misinformation out there about this "breed"--it is a mix, so you never know exactly what you will get! Some doodles are shy and anxious (see the anxiety group!) and some are very rambunctious--so when you go to see pups at a breeder's facility, the most important thing is temperament!! The breeder may also have an idea of coat type but if non-shedding is important to you, you should look for a fairly curly pup--an F1b is a labradoodle crossed back to a poodle and may have a curlier coat for example. If the breeder only has F1s, they are great dogs, but some may have more issues with shedding--
