what a fun park, I would love to have something like that here. Winston is doing classes, but to have equipment to practice on would be really fun. Even though the equipment isn't the same it would really give the dog lots of confidence.

They are still here, but I think the shipping charges might be a little high. But they are sure cute. It usually takes them about a week to clean our open space here at the hospital.

My Rottie, Freya has more retriever genes than Winston. Winston is 20 months and has just started to learn to catch a ball, most of the time it hits him. Love the park, grass not weeds a real plus. looks like the boys had a great time.

their only the gardeners for the back forty, sure wouldn't want then in the flower beds. They do a lot to bring your stress level down however. They are very calming

Unfortunately not my idea of gardeners :) The goat area looks a little barren for my taste and I doubt they know, as I like to say, a petunia from poison ivy. But for keeping vegetation down they seem to do a good job. What happens when then keep mu…

Hi Kathie , just saw your post where you and Winston went on your first visit and are planning a visit to an Alzheimer's facility this Saturday. Just wanted to stop in an give you a little heads up on some experiences I've had. I have found that it is "VERY" easy to get in trouble in a hurry on an Alzheimer's visit. It is very sad because the Alzheimer's patients I have found probably enjoy the visits more than anyone else, but obviously they have issues that they aren't really in control of. I've had them get angry very very quickly, happy one second, and angry as anything the next, one guy tried to take Sophie from me (wouldn't let go of the leash). Then when they were getting the leash from him he got angry. They are also "VERY" strong. They can get scared easy etc. So, just be on the top of your game if you are going to visit there. What I have decided to do is one facility we do not go on that wing. At another facility we only go in the common areas on that floor, and only if there is staff close by to assist if need be. We do not go down any hallways or rooms unless requested to do so and escorted by a staff member. It is such a rewarding experience, but you don't want to put Winston in harms way either. I always carry an extra leash with me now so I can just unbuckle her if we get in trouble to separate her from the patient. Congrats on your success and best wishes are you continue.

Hi Kathie, I would double check with Delta to see if their "national" status precludes recertification in another state and allows crossing of state lines for certification status. Many therapy groups operating under the Delta umbrella/affiliation require their own testing. I was amazed to learn that the Delta Society of Australia has nothing to do with the US Delta Society and sets its own rules. They do NOT have an exclusion due to raw feeding!

Congratulations on your goal of Therapy Work with Winston! He is a cutie! I see that you mentioned you are planning testing with Delta Society in August. Just a heads up...many people are leaving Delta Society because of their heavy handed and poorly reasoned directive about excluding raw fed dogs from the Pet Partners program. They have a financial relationship with Purina, with the Purina logo now appearing on all name tags! We have been Pet Partners for 5 years and I am very disappointed with Delta Society in this area. We will not recertify with them.

Sometimes I think these things are 'meant' to happen. The puppy I wanted and wanted to name Ruby ended up in a nearby town and named Ruby! She and her brother, my Ned get together at least 3 times a year and they seem to know and remember each other! I hope you get Winston's brother. We ended up with our rescue by chance and he and Ned share the same birthday - at least the rescue named the same date as Clancy's birthday. How is that for meant?

We were similar, but did not get the house in Grants Pass. It was a perfect retirement house for us, but the owner passed away and his daughter decided to move into the house. Then the housing market in California crashed and the value of our home is down 50%. So, we are not going to sell at this time. But Oregon is still in our minds.

Profile Information

About Me:
I work full time as a Medical Librarian, at the local hospital here in Marin County. I have two grown sons, David lives about a mile away and Josh is in graduate school at Columbia University in New York City. So it is just me and the dogs at home, they are my buddies. I spend my spare time gardening, being with friends and traveling to Bend, Oregon. Of course the dogs are the center of my every day life, which is just fine with me.

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Goldendoodle, Winston 1 year old love of my life. Freya, Rottweiler almost 6. She is my sweet girl and loves having Winston around. Both dogs have their CGC.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Love the temperment and looks. Winston has been a dream to train. I tell everyone that Winston is a gift from my late Rottie, Moe. Moe was a rescue and had some issues. I spent 9 years making sure that Moe had a wonderful life even with all the restrictions I had to impose. So when Moe died, his gift to me was Winston. Moe was letting me know that I deserved a less stressful life.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Training, walks, play, taking pictures. Winston has been taking classes at the Humane Society from the time he was 3 months old. He is a dream to train. We will work on therapy training in the Spring.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I do most of the time, Winston goes to the groomer once a quarter
