F1 standard male, "Jackdoodle" born 11-28-2004. 80 lbs, apricot, adopted from a shelter in January 2006 at 14 months old.
From the day I brought him home, he has never had an accident, never chewed or damaged anything, never taken food from the counter, never gone in the garbage, never bothered the cat. He is absolutely phenomenal with children...a stroller coming down the street gets his tail going in circles. He sheds like crazy, and has lots of medical & psychological issues, but he is an exceptionally good boy.

Rest in Peace Dinah 3/17/94 - 8/5/11
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I really did not choose, or particularly want, a doodle. But when I saw him at the shelter, I just couldn't leave him in that cage! He looked so sad.
Really cute, really sweet, he needed me and I needed him.

Sheila's Birthday Poem for Jackdoodle 11-28-12

Today is the birthday of good ole' Jackdoodle.

He's such a handsome guy cause he's mixed with a poodle.

With his big brown eyes, and his cold wet nose,

his messy kind of hair, it all really goes.

He has a wiggley butt when he's a wagging that tail,

puts a smile on Karen's face every time without fail.

So on this special day, a day that's all your own,

hope your tail is a spinning and mom treats you with a bone.

Happy Birthday Jackdoodle !

HUGS !! Finnley and Sheila

Sheila's poem for JD's 10th Birthday 11-28-14
Today Jack Doodle is turning 10,

A decade to count upon, then we'll start all over again .

His big wet nose, and his long golden hair,

he's a kind, and gentle doodle, with nary a care.

Ten years of ball chasing, and long happy walks.

Only the best kibble to eat, but Jack never balks

So many cuddles, and snuggles too, with his mom, her name is Karen

she loves him through and through.

So raise a biscuit high, as we salute our good friend Jack.

The epitome of doodleness, a number one class act !

Ugh! Frustrating! I'm not going to rewrite all that! Lol. On the recommended food list - do the brands start out as the best at the top and go down from there in quality?

I forgot to ask you about the fish oil before:) The NaturesMade softgels are ok? If they are, how much a day?

Hi Karen!

I wanted to give you an update on Bella with the food switch:) She is doing great on it and had a smooth (no tummy problems) transition to the Fromm Gold line. I haven't noticed a difference with her coat or anything like that. (which I am not worried about since her coat was always soft:) I can still see that the itching is about the same,(It hasn't been bad lately) but the paw licking has pretty much stopped. Will it just take time to see any "changes" with the itching?

Thank You for helping me with switching her to a better food:)

P.S. I think it was in the recent Acana discussion that you said there was a Pet Supplies Plus near you? That was the pet store that we went to in FL, and only thought that they were down south. I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a store! I have to look on the website to see if there are any near me:)

Thanks Karen for your response to my food question awhile back. What food do you feed your doodle(s)? I'm trying to wean Forest off Prescription Hills Diet i/d even though he had perfect stool on that food, back to Candidae. It's not good anymore. Boo!

Karen, I requested the "friend" thing. I have a problem with Penny that I would like to discuss privately. It's a bit embarrassing and a little inappropriate to post for everyone to see, I think. Maybe it's been discussed already; if it has, I haven't found anything on it. Message me or allow me a "friend" so I can reach you. Thanks, Sally

I was worried people might be mean/critical if I was making a mistake.  I called my vet to ask about the food.  Thanks for your response. I thought about just messaging you privately, as it seems like you are the food guru!

Hey! Giving you an update on Marty. I feel like I've been on poop patrol the last 2 months. We found that dry food was irritating his stomach. My theory is his pancreas isn't producing effective digestive enzymes EPI to breakout down and it stays in his stomach creating SIBO. Giving him diarrhea and those orange soft serve cow patties. We are feeding him 3 cans of zignature essential (no chicken) a day and so far formed brown turds with lines. I am going to get in touch with my vet to do a cTLI and cobalamin test to confirm, so we can start talking enzymes. Still continuing the probiotic. Thank you! I'll keep updating you.
