"I think Emma and Lola have been talking! If I allow Lola to have anything, or if it's something she knows is ok to have, she'll always give it up, but if she manages to sneak it then forget it. Once she got a big mailing sticker out…"
"I think you (and Jane) are definitely right--basic obedience needs to be strengthened. We've done the basic puppy class, but I'm going through it again on my own with the materials we got, because clearly I didn't do as good a…"
"No, I'm not afraid of her at all--she's a total cuddlebug 99% of the time. I have been working on the "drop it" command, which is successful with low interest things IF there's a darn good treat coming her way. Part of the…"
"When we got Clancy, he and Gordie had 'arguments' for pack position. It was mostly Gordie but Clancy will NOT back down. They quarreled over toys and me. We just took away any toys that appeared highly prized. They have settled…"
"I think you're going to just have to wait and see how he is with the new foster. I would definitely correct though at the first signs of dominance. He needs to understand that the foster is "yours" and that he's not…"
"My main concern, this new foster ( if it actually comes here) will have only been neutered 1-2 days.
Spud was nice to Sheba and Duke, but Ann's foster Bolt ( also just neutered and still smelled of testosterone) he also got snippy with. I…"
"Rosco has a history of resource guarding at the dog park. With toys/balls. So I guess I guess, technically, I have experience with it. But it was only a problem there, so it's not a problem that is generalized or has caused us…"
"Karen this is exactly what Hattie does. We could stand there with me holding on to the object for eight hours and she would not let go. She even sneaks rocks and pieces of bark in her mouth while outside to bring inside. And forget trying to open…"
"I don't know if it's officially resource guarding, but it is behavior that you don't want to allow because it could lead to an actual fight with the right dog. There are some dogs who just shouldn't play ball with other…"
"Hi jessica! I would suggest just to be patient and be able to take something away from her by standing close and eventually let her let you take it from her. My sisters Maltese was like this and I would be super close to her for a long time and be…"
"Hi Joanne! Sorry to hear about my fav doodle getting snappy! I by no means is anyone that knows anything about training but maybe you should remove all his old balls and bowls and get new ones to introduce when your foster gets there? Maybe spud…"
"The two water bowl incidents were when he was really near exhaustion and very thirsty. But then it happened with HIS ball. It has happened with HIS ball on two separate incidences with the same Aussiedoodle.
Yesterday all was well…"
"I came in here hoping to ask the same question.
I took Spud to a dog park last Spring ( that LAST TIME) and he went over to a water dish and lied down to drink. Another dog came along and he growled. The dog proceeded again, and he…"
What type of brush are you using. Have you tried it on yourself to see if you are applying too much pressure and it hurts her? I started brushing Charlie very gently when we first got him and just used a brush that had rubber tips on the ends of the tines. I also gave him a little massage when he was tired and trying to take a nap. By the time he was 6 mos old he was getting his brushing first thing in the a.m. and then was good for the day. I also use a Les Pouches brush to get out any tangles now. Lola is in a tough stage of grooming because she is probably going through the coat change for the next few months. You will most likely find the adult coat easier to deal with. I would keep trying to brush her even for just a few minutes initially many times throughout the day until she gets used to you handling her. Good luck. I think your Lola is just a doll!
There is another member who has a red from the same parents my Bear came from at Spring Creek. You can look them up...her name is also Julie and her dog is Bochy. I tried to find other members on here that have Spring Creek doodles, but I'm not too familiar with the site and how it works yet.
Hi Jessica - I just knew it the second I saw her, but wanted to ask to be sure. They certainly have a distinct look. My Bear is from Gunner & Dancer and he is only going on 10 months. He is a pretty good boy, but he does not like to be groomed and is very mouthy about it. What I mean by that is, he has to have his mouth on your hands trying to get you to stop. I've only taken him to a professional groomer one time and they weren't too thrilled with him. Other than that, he is a lover and just a realy sweet boy who brings a lot of fun to our home.
