I definitely agree. It is always a case of weighing the benefits versus the risks. In Jack's case, a flea infestation would life threatening, so his specialist recommends the products that have the best track record in terms of side-effects.
If your dog has any medical issues I would carefully investigate any new medication. We beleive that Frontline Plus and/or Heartgard Plus lowers Mariner's seizure threshhold.
No, it won't keep them off, but it kills them and prevents them from reproducing, which is the big problem with fleas. It doesn't repel them, they have to bite the dog to die.

- We had a Golden Retriever who was the love of our life but we had to put him to sleep in June after he fought cancer for six months - we didn't want to go through that again - but wanted just as nice loveable dog.

Congratulations about your doodle. We want to retire to the Central Coast area in about 2 years. Keep those home prices down!!!! We were at a great dog park In Aroyo Grande or Grover City this summer. It was large enough and grassy.
