- About Me:
- First-time dog owner. I've always liked dogs, but Monty turned out to be the love of my life. I'm sooo happy I went with a goldendoodle. I can't believe how much I love this dog.... I love him so much that we've decided to add Auggie in July 2012. He is Monty's "step" brother from the same breeder in Colorado. They share the same dad.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- We've got a Teddy Bear English Cream Goldendoodle.
Monty was born in March 2010 and is as adorable as can be. He passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification at 9 months and just passed the Delta Society therapy dog evaluations at 2 years of age. He knows when he is supposed to behave, but he is just a silly puppy. He makes us laugh a lot.
Auggie was born in May 2012 and we brought him home on July 17, 2012.

- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- First I fell in love with the way they look, but once I did more research, I found out how great their personalities are.
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- Being with him every day is the best thing that I can ask for. I cannot imagine my life without him.
- Does your doodle(s) shed?
- Nope!
- Who grooms your doodle(s)?

- Kong Genius food dispenser: life-savior for the times when the dog does not want to eat his food from a bowl

Many of you know that when we added Auggie to our family last summer, I naively hoped I was getting a clone of Monty. I mean, same dad, just a different mom, how much variety can there be? First time dog owner with Monty. Boy, was I mistaken! The difference is apparent in the looks, everyone sees that. It's deeper than the looks, though. I was thinking what makes these two half-brothers so different. And here is what I came up with:

Auggie is fortunate enough to be in touch with his real brother Jack. They went together to the same socialization class when they were just tiny-tiny skinny-butt puppies and they also met a few times for a local doodle romp.

Auggie is 8 months old today. Where did the time go? He's been home for 6 months already and I'm happy to report that I'm still alive. :-) As you know the first few weeks were really hard for me. But fortunately, puppies grow fast and the humans get used to the chaos eventually.

It has been two weeks since we brought Auggie home and I feel like I have not slept for two full years. I should have probably sent this as a private message to my DK friends in order not to incriminate myself, but who cares. I’m exhausted.

Nicky, Riley & Boris said… Hi there, Boris is pretty much the same size as Riley at the moment (he's seven months) so he is going to be a good bit bigger. They really get on very well and wear each other out for most of the day. Boris is the easiest dog ever, even more placid than Riley. I can't believe Auggie now he is so grown up? The time does fly by even though when you're in the middle of it you think it will go on for ever lol My garden resembles what used to be a garden and is now a pile of mud! The weather here is only starting to resemble Spring as it has been so cold and wet up to now and I'm looking forward to clean dry dogs for a few months at least and if I'm lucky clean floors for more than half an hour at a time. : )

I was directed to you by someone saying you might have successfully created a designated area where your dogs are allowed to dig to their hearts' delight. Is that true? I'm looking for tips on how to help my puppy to know where to dig so she won't do it in places she's not supposed to....and to satisfy that dig drive! Thanks for any thoughts! - Alex

- We have been having lots of computer problems, but we will get it all straighten out before the new computer and Wacom tablet. The digital art class is really difficult for me (as an old lady), but I will get that all figured out one of these days. It is hard for me to get the necessary coordination with the iMac screen and keyboard, mouse, tablet and pen. The other students are all so young and have worked with computers their. Whole lives. But I definitely have the time.
