Quinn's first grooming questions?

Our black muppit is in need of his first grooming. He is almost 11 months old. I have been bathing him but his coat is so thick I can't get down to the skin with the brush, comb, or any of the tools…Continue

Quinn is 9 mos. and acts like he is starving. We feed him a high grade kibble. Two cups twice a day. I worry that he may need more. There are some doggie treats now and then but not too often.Your…Continue

Quinn is an amazing big black bear.  And I mean big.  We met his very tall poodle mommy and his very sturdy golden daddy when we picked him up as a puppy. We expected our boy to be a big one.  He…Continue

"I am sorry to hear this. We actually have Willow's coat short all year around (1-2 inches) and just got her groomed for 0.5 inch, so having short coat itself isn't a bad thing. Itching, on the other hand, is a serious concern, more so if…"

"By the way, when I groom, I dilute the shampoo way down--when they use it full strength, it not only irritates the skin, but it leaves the residue Adrianne talked about--that is something to ask about."

"Might be razor burn too if she went very close to the skin. I don't know how old Quinn is, but the roughest grooming is right around 10-12 months of age when they go thru a transition to an adult coat---lots of times there is more matting under…"

"Yes, I'm sure he is itchy from the grooming.  It may also be a reaction to the soap that she used, so maybe give him a soothing bath with a baby shampoo or other soap that has worked for you in the past.  Good news is that it grows…"

Quinns a poodle now

I found a groomer that assured me she always tries to avoid the complete shave down but when I went to pick up Quinn at first glance I thought he was laying on the floor by the grooming table but on second look what I was looking at was Quinns beautiful coat in a heap. The groomer managed to save some of his beard and mustache and tail but he is shaved very close now. I was hoping he would feel better but since he came home he has been biting at himself, mostly around the base of his tail. I…See More

Married to my fellow dog lover. Our new doodle is our sixth dog together.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We brought Quinn home and fell in love immediately.
Brady, our border collie is indifferent to him.
Our Aussie/border collie mix loves him. Play time is wild.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We have both wanted to have a standard poodle and a golden retriever so this made complete sense.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Quinn is only four months old so what he likes best is to run after the other dogs in our huge yard. He will start obedience training in November

Nope!

We do it ourselves
