Can anyone help me? These bumps appears last week on my Johnny's nose. At first, we thought they were bee stings, but they do not seem to bother him nor are they going away. In fact, they appear to be getting larger. Anyone have any idea as to what they are. Profile Information

About Me:
My husband and I are five-time empty-nesters with four cats living in a town-home. Last year we moved to a single family home with a large back garden that was screaming out "get a dog, get a dog". The house already had a doggie door and doggie dooley from the previous owner, so the decision was easy. Finding the right dog was not so easy until we met on our travels a few doodle owners. Then there was no more discussions to be had. Frankie Girl came into our lives July 2009 at the tender age of 20 weeks and life has never been the same since. She has filled our world with laughter and joy. That is not to say, much more work but worth every minute. Owning her has given us more friends, more exercise and definitely more clarity to life on what's important and whats not. Rediscovering the world through a puppy's eyes is like being re-born. All of this was amazing, but we felt she needed company as we seemed to constantly be seeking out other dogs for her to play with. That being said, on Sunday January 2nd, 2011, we brought home "Johnny". A smaller, young doodle who had been found running on the freeway in Chula Vista with another dog. Some kind person picked the dirty, pair up and took them to the local shelter. Doodle Rescue heard of Johnny and sprung him. They so wonderfully paid for multiple surgeries that he needed, including, entropian surgery (where the bottom eyelids grow into the eye) hernia, perforated ear drum, and neutering. He was completely matted with fox tails and feces. He got beautifully shaved down and sent to a wonderful foster mum. The stars were in alignment and we were the lucky ones to get him and he has slotted into our home like he was here forever.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Frankie Girl is now nearly 100lbs and 17 months old. She, like all of our fabulous doodles, is one of the brightest moments of life. Her brother Johnny is very much smaller but has the thickest, blackest curly coat we have ever seen. Our vet was not sure if he was a poodle, doodle, or what. Whatever he is...we love and adore him and I know his four-legged sister will too....eventually. Once she gets over the "only child" syndrome and every toy in the box belonging to "her".
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder, Rescue
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We met many doodles on our travels and each and every one came with their own unique style but each and every one has the same sweet, intelligent nature. They are fun-family dogs and if you get the right one, do not shed.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
I guess taking her out in public is truly one of our most favorite things and watching and listening to the comments she gets. So guilty to say...we are sooooooooo very proud of her. She is so very large (especially for a female) and so very friendly, that she causes a big commotion whenever we take her out and she usually ends up with people all around her like some form of rock star. People are always asking if they can take a picture of her too..ha ha. Now that we have Johnny proudly walking by her side, we get even more attention, if that were possible. He gets just as many compliments as she and it is just precious to walk behind these two and watch they cute doodly bums wiggling down the road :)
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Taj Ma Paw
Favorite Doodle Products?
The Les Pooch green brush. I purchased this from the Doodle Country Store and it truly was the best investment ever. Bully chews. They are safe as they do not break off but very expensive. The give hours of good chewing and thus she has never really chewed anything else upl Johnny, thankfully is not a chewer either. This winter we have left Frankie's coat long as it is so very gorgeous. The best thing to keep it unmatted is Johnson's No More tangles. It works great on her coat and smells delightful.

So. California Doodle Romp and Fund Raiser

Posted on January 13, 2011 at 8:32pm 2 Comments

Hi my fellow "doodlers" For all those attending the Seal Beach dog park doodle romp this coming Saturday, January 15th, I wanted to let you know to bring a few dollars in cash as I am selling home-made English Almond Roca in cute Valentines packages as a fund-raiser for Doodle Rescue. I'm sure you all agree, they do an amazing job of saving these precious doodles and I know how expensive it all must be.

Arthritic Hips..

So I am putting this one out there as I am wondering if I am the only person who feels like this. Today, I took Frankie to a dog park and met up with this man who had two dogs A very active 2 yr old pit bull mix and also a 9 year old shepherd. The pit bull mix just loved Frankie and they played and romped like young dogs do. The poor Shepherd was trying to join in but was dragging her hind quarters behind her. IT just broke my heart. I asked him what the vet said and if there was anything they… Continue

We will NEVER mention a thing about Johnny!  You did DNA testing but if you hadn't no one would ever know for sure!  We are debating about bringing Clancy because I am kind of wondering what he is - he certainly is NOT a standard looking guy.  He looks very goldendoodle to us in the face and the tail but he is so stocky and short, that in truth, who knows.....  For sure we will be taking Ned.

I have that book but have hesitated to start it because I am sure I will be crying through most of it! It will be worth it I'm sure. Thanks for the tip! May this bad streak will be a distant memory soon.

Hi Frances, I feel like I haven't seen you on DK for awhile so it was great to see your advice to the family adopting their second doodle. Just wanted to let you know you have been missed (or I'm just unobservant... ?).

The DRC can always use volunteers.  I would go to their site - are you a member there yet?  There is a page to sign on for the California doodle train to transport.  We really can't foster either.  Our Gordie (Springer) just has a delicate psyche and gets very depressed.  He was fine when we had my mom's dog for a couple of months before finding him a home and we were surprised, but Sunny had the same anxieties so perhaps kindred spirits .....

This site has been having major troubles sending notifications - none, double, old.  It seems to be a huge mess. I hope it gets cleared up soon.

Hi Frances,

I had seen some very sweet notes from you to Jane about Guinness, and decided to take a look at your page. Your story was so nice and your slide show of Frankie and Johnny.... just  delightful. They are a winsome pair. I can see why they are a show stopper when you go for walks!  Your dogs are just gorgeous. Johnny has a wonderful life thanks to you and your husband giving him a second chance, and we all know how differently things could have turned out.  Bless you.

I am so glad that Johnny seems to be recovering and that you can actively prevent another attack or at least limit his chances of having another.  Have you tried antlers as a chew?  The are really hard and take lots of chewing. There is marrow but perhaps is isn't as rich or as much???  We give our dogs hollow bones to chew no high fat or marrow in them.  Maybe Frankie and Johnny would like those.

I don't think I could bear to visit either -  I agree too traumatic for Johnny, which makes it too traumatic for you.  I look forward to your post with a bit more explanation about his condition, causes, treatments, symptoms.  I want to be able to watch my guys for this too.

I hope we can all meet up soon.  I understand that there is a meet-up in September at Arbor Dog Park.  We are dealing with so much with my mom that I can't commit to it and obviously you are dealing with Johnny's health so I know you couldn't possibly commit either.

How is Johnny this morning?  I feel like he is 'part' mine because I told you about his listing and took his pictures.   I am sooooooo sorry.  On a lighter note, I can't wait to hear about the DNA test results.
