- About Me:
- I live in Newcastle outside of Seattle, WA with my family. I am trying very hard to finish my PhD while working part time as a consultant and career coach. The doods and I spend a couple of hours every morning hiking on one of our local trails, or they go swimming in one of the local lakes if the weather is nice. I also have a husband and a 12 year old son who's in 7th grade.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- Lilo, (usually dirty-)blonde F1 goldendoodle, age 6 (birthday: December 13, 2004)
Rocky, black F1 goldendoodle, age 6 (birthday: March 22, 2005)
Ms Lilo looks very pretty with her perfect smile and long eye lashes, but she's far from ladylike and tends to get in trouble for being too creative. She once pulled out the entire sprinkler system from our back yard... didn't take her very long either. She's also emptied many trash cans to get to the rotten stuff on the bottom, which she then enjoys rolling around in. Lilo decided at an early age to bring us our shoes every time we come home, and she knows exactly which shoes belong to whom. So we forgive her for all the crazy things she does.
Mr Rocky aka "Velcro" is our faithful guard dog, who follows us around all day, and cries when we leave. Rocky is an excellent ball player, and a very fast swimmer. He likes to chase squirrels and birds, and recently caught a large Canada goose by the wing. He let go of it quickly though when it freaked out...

- Had a golden retriever some time ago, but remembered all the dog hairs everywhere, so thought a goldendoodle would be the perfect next dog.

I picked up yet another stray dog yesterday on my morning hike with the doods - I think this will be the 6th or 7th loose dog I have had to bring home in the past couple of years. This one was wearing a collar, but - of course - no tag. Took him to the local vet who scanned for chip - nothing. Brought him back home, gave him water and food. Started the usual process of creating flyers, posting ads on Craigslist, emailing everyone I know locally, calling the shelters etc etc. Well, the owner…

I went to Atlanta for my PhD residency and was gone 4 days. Got home v. late Sunday night; everyone was asleep but the dogs started barking when they heard me come through the garage. I called for them and they both came running down the stairs and attacked me with kisses and jumping and dancing with excitement. Rocky was besides himself and cried and cried. A sad track

A friend of mine called and said her kitten had gone missing. I offered to bring Lilo over to see if she could track down the cat - after all her training, here was finally a worthy and real life mission (her 2nd only - the first one involved tracking a missing person on our mountain, which led to nothing). We arrived at my friend's house and I put Lilo's tracking harness on. She sniffed some cat toys and went straight to work. Out the door, down the street, across a neighbor's yard, back and… Continue
I no longer chase deer :(

After my Mom made me wear this horrible orange collar that delivers "stimulation," I can no longer chase deer. I am really bummed because I love chasing deer. Almost caught one once and my Mom wasn't even happy!! Would have tasted so good on the bbq. At least I can still chase mice and squirrels and other critters in the yard. Killed a fat rabbit this morning. But no more deer :( This is a sad time for me.

My son Mark turned 12 last Saturday. Of course he got several presents, we fussed over him all day, and he had some friends over. I admit to ignoring Lilo and Rocky slightly because of his party... just around dusk, the dogs went outside as usual to make their evening rounds around our property.
