Would you be willing to Dog Sit on occasion for other DoodleKisses members? (You are NOT committing to anything by saying yes - you are just saying you might be willing to do this if you were acquainted with the other member and the circumstances were right.)
"Well, there may always be something in bloom, but that doesn't mean anyone is allergic to all of it, lol. JD is allergic to maple pollen, but not any other tree pollen. He's allergic to fescue but not rye grass. So I don;t see what the…"
"We just moved from NYC to SF about 6 months ago. The NYC vet was amazing - maybe he had a special place in his heart for Joey since they met when she was a puppy. This vet hospital has 4+ doctors and we've seen about 3 of them now. Even that,…"
"Grains would be the type of carbohydrates to stay away from. It is possible to be allergic to just about anything organic, but it isn't likely.
Honestly, just from this discussion, I don;t care for this vet at all. Did the old one retire?…"
"There are veterinary specialists just like there are human specialists. A general practice vet is like your primary care doctor; they cannot possibly be experts in every type of medicine, just like your primary care doctor cannot be an expert in…"
"That is the gremlins for you, they wait for complacency : ) I'm on Chrome at the moment. I prefer Firefox but you have to choose your battles. It really isn't the browsers per se but the host I think. I've tried to wait patiently for…"
"thank you karen! your help is so much appreciated. i just went through all the acana protein's. i can say for certain that joey has not had kangaroo so think we will start there. i also am aware of vet's and their lack of nutritional…"
"And the Ning tech wondered why when I type a long response I do it in word and then paste. Another suggestion, copy your response before you try to send it even if you type right here. Then if the gremlins come into play you can do another attempt…"
"I spent twenty minutes typing out a long answer and the DK gremlins ate it, so I'll try again.
The medical info on the Mar Vista site is great. The food info is lousy. I do not ever take food advice from the vet, and I am never going to…"
"Karen, we're now exploring food trials. The vet is recommending their hypoallergentic food that they sell. The brand that we always avoid, so I was concerned. However, I do see the food on this site that you…"
Esther, I saw your post about prepackaged raw and wanted to let you know that I recently started giving my guys some prepackaged raw nuggets at night before bed. I eventually want to feed them raw for dinner a couple nights a week or just feed the raw on the weekend (I haven't really decided yet). I plan to stick with the kibble as our main food, but wanted to get some raw into their diet. I saw that most people were really against the prepackaged, but I don't really want to handle all kinds of raw meat (I myself am not a big meat eater). I would think that if you go with one of the brands that offers a "complete diet" rather than a raw grind that is to be used as "supplemental feeding" you should be ok.
Thank you for asking about the Les Poochs brushes. I viewed all of the adorable photos of Joey on your DK page and he appears to have a wavy fleece coat.
Generally the Green brush and the Purple brush is best for this type of coat. The medium-soft Green brush is used when the coat is shorter than 4-inches, and the firm Purple brush is used for the longer coat.
The brushes are available in two sizes (Regular and Wide).
The Regular size is recommended for doodles weighing less than 40-pounds and for brushing the narrow contours, ears, paws and tail.
The Wide size is appropriate for the larger doodles generally over 40-pounds.
We have the brushes available at the Doodle Country Store website.
Please Note: The wide-sized Green is temporarily sold out but can still be ordered and shipped when available. The regular-sized green is immediately available as well as the purple brushes.
