- About Me:
- I'm a full-time dog groomer in suburban New York with an extensive list of doodle clients. I'm always open to new grooming ideas and input from doodle owners, and having read this forum for the past year or so I figured it was time to join.
One of my top priorities is educating my customers about their doodle's coat. Unfortunately, many of my doodles came from pet stores and breeders that neglected to tell their customers about the work that is generally necessary for keeping their doodle's coat manageable and comfortable. A well cared-for doodle is a joy, but when their hair gets out of hand it is a nightmare - I say this as someone who has seen families burst into tears at the sight of their shaved dog, and also as someone who has spent nine hours washing, dematting, and grooming a trainwreck of a doodle that the owner refused to shave.
Communication with your groomer is key - If your groomer shaves your dog without discussing it with you first, find another one!
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- My clients are labradoodles, goldendoodles, double doodles, and really most kinds of poodle mixes.
I myself have a little red mutt named Doug, two cats, a Quaker parrot, six frogs, two anoles, and three crested geckos.
- Favorite Doodle Products?
- DogGroom shampoo, GloCoat, a Les Poochs emergency dematter, a rake dematter, and a fine tooth comb.

Camilla and Darwin said… - Welcome, and I can tell by your profile photo that you are an amazing groomer. He/she looks exactly what I would love Darwin to look like. I tried hard to find a groomer in Utah who did what I wanted with Darwin, and couldn't find anyone. I finally started doing it myself, but I am not that great at it. Hopefully with practice... :-)
