Beemer & Comiskey will bark with the dog two doors down and 3 doors up from our yard...I agree...it gets on my nerves.....they are not always good at coming in when told....so you have to find something that Larry cannot resist.....with Beemer we just yell "treat" and in he comes....Comiskey is not so easy...I have to lie to her and say "Daddy's Home"...she can't get in fast enough....if I am not being truthful...she gets a special treat....hope this helps....By the way....Beemer is having trouble with his one hind leg....before Christmas we took him to the vet and she gave him an anti-inflamitory (sp?)...he did better...but she said that if it didn't clear up he might need xrays (hip displasia?) he gave her no indication as to where any pain was....so he is still walking kind of stiff and favoring his leg so it's back to the vet....will keep you updated.....
Cori- I just read your post about Larry! How is he?? =( I got nervous and started doing a little of my own research on google. Please update me on how he is...
Extra hugs and kisses for the holidays! May 2010 be filled with much health, love and laughter.....
Just saw your post....what did they determine is wrong with Larry? Did you also post in the group (I think it is something about medical issues) maybe you will get more information or maybe someone else has experienced the same problem....tell Larry we love him and are pulling for him to get a quick diagnosis. Beemer now weighs 28 lbs and Comiskey is now 34 lbs. (She is going on a diet after the holidays) She will see the vet in January and I know the vet is not going to be very happy about her weight! They say you should be able to feel their ribs...Beemer is fine...Comiskey not so much... I would have to say she stopped growing at about 18 months, but the weight thing is our fault. Beemer is just a tad bit taller than Comiskey...so I believe he is just about done.....please keep me updated on Larry...have a wonderful holiday....Mike, Penny, Comiskey & Beemer
Yes, yes, yes....we do not have a single toy that they haven't torn apart.....I have taken to making stuffed bones with squeekers in them.....out of uphostery material!....They still de-stuff them but not as fast....as messy as this is....I might add that they have not ruined any of my furniture....pillows....floor...baseboard....screens...and anything else they can get their little paws on.....I have actually saved the stuffing and just restuffed some of the toys....okay...by now you and Travis are thinking that I have way too much time on my hands....again I must say...I haven't lost any of my household!.....Sorry, I can't help with any suggestions...I am sure there are toys out there that a doodle can't destroy...but as it appears...every doodle is different. I think you might try asking the question in the discussion forum and see what you get....How is Larry these days?...(oh by the way, I forgot to tell you that after my dogs destuff....they chew off bits of the toy and chew them like gum....when they are bored with that they spit them out , not very attractive but they sure love to do it).....p.s. Beemers fur has grown a half inch already...Took their Christmas photos yesterday....you can see the difference.....not sending cards this year but will post the photos....good luck with the toys....best to all....
SHORT!......I spent most of the morning cutting mats out of his coat.....he goes to bed with no mats...wakes up with bunches.....soooooo...his coat was so uneven that I told her to get rid of the puppy coat.....so he is about a half an inch all over.....right now he is so happy that he can't stop running around...can't get the photos tonight....but will definitely get some tomorrow....he looks so much like Comiskey that at a glance you can't tell them apart....it was a real suprise to see him look so different...but I like it (the groomer said the fur on his legs was 8 inches long!) The groomer also said that he was like grooming a show dog...he just stood there and let her work (unlike Comiskey....she will take an arm off if I don't sedate her!)....have a great Thanksgiving...and watch for those photos tomorrow!
Hey, so sorry that Larry is still a wild man....we have been allowing Beemer to have a free run everyday (no one is home in the neighborhood) and between that and his hour walk with DH he gets pretty mellow.....doesn't mean that Comiskey is not his main target....but he is getting better. Well, I broke down and called the groomer....he is looking so shabby...and I have cut enough knots out of him that his coat is a real mess...he deserves better for the holidays....so Tuesday it is....photos to follow.....Comiskey turns 2 years old on Saturday...our baby girl is now an adult. I know when she sees the vet next, Comiskey new name is going to be "Chubs"....a few to many cookies around the hips!...Yep, she loves the snow (and so did Beemer last year)...but when she comes in she wants to be towel dried...wrapped in her blanket...and she falls asleep by the fire....Beemer, not so much...the snow made him wild (maybe that will change)
Enough for now.....hope all is well with you three...have a wonderful Thanksgiving....
