I can't decide which group this discussion should be classified in.  We adopted Elmo Joe in April of 2011 from the DRC.  His estimated birth date is 1/05/07.  We are an empty-nest couple who have a…Continue

"I agree with the e-collar and trainer.  Just another thought is to set a mouse trap inside a sock or under an item of tempting clothing and when Elmo goes for it and it snaps shut, it might just be aversive enough to do the trick."

It has been a tough and worrisome year for farmers, hasn't it.  I hope the rain stops soon and you will end up having a bountiful harvest!  Does Auggie kinda fall right back into the schedule or does it take him a few visits to get into the swing of things.  Is Elmo the only one of your dogs that likes the boat?  Thanks for the prayers, Carol.  Sending some your way, too!!

Thanks for the update, Carol!  Hey, Duke still has a bad recall!  lol  I really need to get my guys back into some kind of training.  Maybe later in the winter when things calm down some.

Things are looking good with the sale of our house and the house we are buying.  A couple of hurdles were crossed yesterday with the inspection of the house we are selling (no major problems) and the appraisal on the house we are buying.  So, it looks like I can start to pack.  Closing on the house we are buying should be around Oct. 7th.

I would love to come visit.  Just have to work into our busy schedules.  Sorry, don't know much about harvesting/farming but when do you get really busy?  BTW, did I tell you I broke my foot?  I'm so clumsy!

Hi Carol,

Sheba is no longer limping on her front leg but does show a couple symptoms of hip displasia.  I will be getting x-rays of her back and hips in the near future.  We are planning on going on vacation and the vet said it is fine for Sheba to go.  So we will be heading out west for camping and some hiking.

Duke has had these problems for so long I don't think he knows what it's like to feel "normal".  He is a sweetie though and is always ready for some hugs.  Molly is adjusting and we had some fun in the kiddie wading pool yesterday.  We had a smaller one last year but Sheba's claws put holes in it so we got a bigger one this year.  Molly loves it and climbed right in!  Within minutes the water was filthy as Sheba and Molly were running through the mulch and then jumping in the pool.  Duke stayed out of the pool for the most part.  He loves to play in the waters of rivers & ponds but not so much in the kiddie pools.

Mike has been working in the crawlspace and it's almost ready to go.  We have an open house scheduled for June 5th.

We had some good weather yesterday and spent most of the day working in the yard.  We haven't had rain in 2 nights!  Woo Hoo!  How is the planting going??

Give Elmo a big hug from us!  I wonder if Elmo likes to play in the water??  Maybe some day he can throw a pool party and invite Sheba and Duke!  lol

Yes Carol, I did see the photos.  Thank you so much for sending them.  : ) Elmo looks beautiful!!!  I'm sure he is turning heads everywhere he goes!  What did the men at the grain mill think of him??  Karen and I were talking about Elmo and the photos you have posted on here.  She really likes the picture where Elmo is kissing your grandson, to.  : )

I'm so sorry I didn't respond sooner as I've been pretty busy.  I took Sheba to the vet yesterday and the vet wants to check her for hip dysplasia.  I plan on taking her for the x rays in a week or so.  She hurt her front leg and was limping so if she is still limping in a week the vet wants to x ray the front leg at the same time.  She is on an anti-inflammitory drug for her leg.  Ugh, I hope she doesn't have this on top of her allergies!!  Poor little girl!!
