Gus McDoodle

About Me:

First, I am Gus and Cerises momma. Gus is my two year old labradoodle and Cerise is my 10 month old toy poodle. They are amazing. I am also a second year doctoral student at Virginia Tech studying Aquatic Ecotoxicology. It's a fancy field that basically means I study dirty water! Gus is a wonderful assistant. He has accompanied me on numerous field trips. He can't always get out because the water in some places is not fit for anyone to be in, but we also have plenty of wonderful sites great for swimming and exploring. Cerise also goes with us in the field occasionally, and don't let the toy poodle fool you, she is 100% a dog. She swims, hikes and rolls in stuff as good as the next guy.

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!

I have a F1b black/charcoal labradoodle and a red toy poodle. I also have a white calico cat named pK (short for Puss Kitty). She rules the house. And finally, I have a 5 year old ferret, Akasha. I am so fortunate, they are all very smart, and get along wonderfully. Gus came home as a puppy to a house of two cats and two ferrets, all of which quickly taught him that he was to respect the fact that they came first! He couldn't be a more gentle, loving dog.

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?

Two main reasons: First, low-to-no shed, hypoallergenic, and secondly, friendly, happy nature. I also wanted a smart, fun, energetic (but not too energetic), versatile dog. I got everything I wanted.

What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?

We love to go hiking, which is probably our favorite thing to do. Gus also loves swimming, exploring, traveling, doggy daycare, playing with other dogs, frisbee, Petsmart. We do a lot together.

Does your doodle(s) shed?

A little bit but nothing major

Who grooms your doodle(s)?

Myself mainly and occasionally the groomer.
