"In our puppy training class they called this Resource Guarding. Here is the information we were given about it. Hope it helps!
Does your dog growl at you when you approach hisfood bowl? Is your puppy possessive about toys andrawhides?…"
"How about taking his bone/treat away and replacing it with another tasty treat like a small piece of cheese. Then immediately give back the bone and repeat. I tried this on Seamus as per trainer and it helps a lot. Good luck!"
Hi doodle friends! So I am worried about Murray's aggression when it comes to treats. He does live with another dog, a little maltese puppy who likes to challenge him for treats/bones. I understand the competitiveness there. Sometimes, he growls at ME though when I go to pet him or touch his bone when he is chewing.Any suggestions on how to stop this behavior sooner than later??Thanks!AshaSee More
"We brought Meg home two weeks ago and immediatly put the bells up, it took two times of me showing her for her to get the idea. It took the third time on for her to show ME that these things are fun and she intends to ring the heck out of them…"
"Hi there Asha!! Yes I am in BR and I just got Graham a week ago. He's wonderful, full of energy and BIG!!! He made 10 weeks yesterday and was at 12 pounds already last week. He looks like he's getting bigger everyday. I would love to chat…"
"sophie does the same thing. 1 ring means she has to go out. if it is more like a symphony of bells I put a box in front of them for a few mins to discourage her from playing with them. she has other ways to signal though if i forget about the box…"
"Murray is VERY cute! Lolli is 16 weeks and often plays CAT with hers, too. It drives me nuts. We have figured out that if she lays down under the bells after she rings them, she needs to go out. If she has to go out BAD, she…"
I'm a college counselor at Louisiana State University and enjoy jogging, yoga, and my new golden doodle puppy!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
My goldendoodle's name is Murray and he is a little over three months old. He traveled all the way from Montana to me in Baton Rouge, LA. He lives with me and my roommate and my roommate's Maltese puppy, Rex. They have been getting along ok; still getting used to one another. Murray looks a lot like a golden and not much like a poodle, but he is the sweetest guy I've ever met; and so intelligent! I absolutely adore him.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I have always wanted a "big" dog, but have allergies to short haired dogs. I knew I wanted a furry/shaggy sort of pup, and when I saw goldendoodles, they appealed to me entirely.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Murray and I go on long walks (when he cooperates) and have mini training sessions. He loves to play with Rex, his Maltese roommate as well. Treats are his absolute favorite!
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
In a Relationship
Would you be willing to Dog Sit on occasion for other DoodleKisses members? (You are NOT committing to anything by saying yes - you are just saying you might be willing to do this if you were acquainted with the other member and the circumstances were right.)
Hi there Asha!! Yes I am in BR and I just got Graham a week ago. He's wonderful, full of energy and BIG!!! He made 10 weeks yesterday and was at 12 pounds already last week. He looks like he's getting bigger everyday. I would love to chat more about doodle health and share any tidbits of info. Do you have a groomer for Murray? Are you doing obedience classes/training? What about vet? I'm so excited to meet a fellow Baton Rouge Doodler! LOL
