Now that spring has sprung in most cold places in Canada and the US, this story tells a most cautionary tale of dogs around ponds, rivers, lakes, with thin ice. Keep all our doodles safe. …Continue

We lost Mr. Jake today. At 16 or 17 (we never were quite sure), he had a good life and senior years that were loving, comfortable and stress free. With very heavy hearts, we took Jake to our vet, and he was euthanized in a very quiet, calm, and respectful manner. I held him as he took his last breath and his heart just stopped. I stroked him the whole time and said quiet, sweet words to him, I do hope he knew I was there for him at the end and that I loved him very much.

There have been several discussions recently on more than one site I belong to regarding skin problems and food and allergies. This has prompted me to put together some information from some very credible sources, which some of you may find interesting.
According to most of the literature I've read, the top three reasons for itchy skin in dogs, manifesting itself as itchy, red, irritated skin, are 1) fleas 2) Atopic either contact or inhalant and 3) food allergy. What the majority of…

Oh, Andrea, I was crying just reading your story. So far he seems happy and pain free. He does not do much but still eats, drinks and knows to go outside. He still loves to cuddle so I am waiting for a sign before I do anything.
Thank you for your support it really means so much. Your doodle looks like my Ozzy.
Andrea, just in case you have not seen this, thought you would be interested.

Cathy C. Bennett said… Hi Andrea - Yes, we are fine, I really appreciate your concern. Unfortunately there were a couple of reported fatalities -which is so sad, and there are still hundreds of people without power even this morning. My neighbors are fine, they both removed their entire tree to avoid this from ever happening in their yard again. I pray everyone will be able to regain some sort of normalcy soon! Thanks so much for reading.
