It sounds like a great trip, Linda.

Hello everyone, Just got back from a 3 1/2 wk trip with the girls in our RV...They really enjoyed it.  We traveled from Ky down the gulf shore to Disney, spent a week there, moved over to the East coast below Melbourne FL then ended in Georgia for a rally. They loved to explore all the new areas.  Lucy did so much better this trip when we had to leave them in the RV.  Very little barking.  Will try & post pictures as I get them filed...

I'm taking my puppy on his first road trip tomorrow. We will be driving from California to Oregon and then on to Vancouver, BC. I looked online and I'm almost positive that all he needs is a current rabies certificate to cross the Canadian border-- can anyone verify this? I'm just worried I missed something when researching and he'll get stuck at the border for not having the right papers!

We travel between Denver and Palm Springs with our doods. The Drury Inn has been a great place. They are very accommodating and no extra charge. For the doodles that are stressed being left in the RV's, have you tried a Thunder Shirt? My oldest wore one when we traveled by plane with him. It worked very well.

Planning a trip to Mammoth California and bringing the dog. Does anyone have recommendations of where to stay with her? Planning to go before the weather turns.....

We went camping this past weekend with Moneypenny and she had a ball.  We went to one of our local lakes and tried to get her out into the lake.  She was not very crazy about it but did give it a try.  Every time one of the waves would come up on her she would run from it, then she would run back and try to find where it went. Lucy our other Doodle just sat on the edge and watched.  She does not like to get into the water, she is just to prissy. LOL Just love my Doodles.

Our doodles are so smart. How about if we just tell them to quit the barking or else????  :-}

The only thing I might leave in the crate with Lucy would be a treat.  She has torn up beds, toys of all kinds, anything she can get a hold of thru the crate.  I once left my reuseable grocery sacks next to Lucys crate.  I had to run out for about 30 min and when I returned, my sacks were chewed up and the canned goods were all over the floor....sigh  When we first got her I did try a soft crate and she ripped it pieces. Back to the barking, Lucy only barks when she is left in the crate and we are gone, so that is why I'm considering the anti bark collar.  I'm hoping it will only need to be used a few times.

WOW Nancy, you have really tried a ton of stuff!!  I hear you on the crates.  I have turned to soft crates as you can get fold them down easily and they are not too heavy.  My girls are not in crates at night any more but the new boy is.  I use the soft crates for all the agility lessons and training lessons.  Somehow I find they feel more comforted in a smaller space.  ALTHOUGH... if they are worked up.. they could get through a soft crate I suppose.  Another thought on crates is that you could put 2 in one if the crate were larger.  Cover all sides except the front... like a cave.  Just fold it back up and put it under when you are done.  Might be worth a try versus not RVing or stressing about leaving them.

Your dogs are very talented!  I can just picture them removing objects in their way, and opening blinds.  Someone must have come up with some games about leaving your dog alone... I'm going to snoop around.

Our 2 older dogs are very well behaved in the camper... most people are stunned when we bring them out after we have beena way golfing all day... shocked that they were so quiet.  However, we have not introduced the new dog to the mix yet.  So I am very keen in this conversation as I may be facing the same issues.

We leave the tv, fan and anything else we can think of on when we leave them.  We close all the curtains however all of ours jump up on the front dash and move the curtains aside - we pile things up there but they just pull them off!  We don't crate any more so that is out - but we have three dogs anyway can you imagine 3 crates in an RV - not!  We have tried the ultrasonic noise deterrent box but they don't seem to really work. We are really down to an e-collar and for two reasons (cost and leaving it on when they are alone) I keep resisting following through.  I wish the ultrasonic device was strong enough to really do the job - but wish in one hand and spit in another  as the old saying goes....
