Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
we live in north palm beach county, florida.
foster is a year old and overall a good boy. we completed 2 Petsmart training classes and learned lots of good things. We're stuck with some pretty common issues: come when called and walking nicely on the leash. i've spent a good bit of time working with a long lead trying to get more consistency with COME. i guess he's pretty smart or i have lots more to learn, but if he's on the lead, he listens for the most part. off leash, in the yard...... not so much. i'd love to take him to the dog beach here in Jupiter but so far, i've let the long leash drag so i have a way to get a hold of him in case i need to. I just don't want to take a chance, though I must say, he's so hyper focused on going for the ball in the water, he's not likely to take off. but who really knows for sure?
so, i would love any suggestions on a particular trainer in this area. I can do a group or individual: i'm open to either. I think the limited space at Petsmart is just not going to work for what we need.
should i have posted this under FORUMS? i'm new to this site, and not quite sure how this works.
thanks for any suggestions

Dianne, Start teaching Foster to really love to come to you when you call him by having treats for him when he comes to you. I did this with Hershey before her meals. If she was in another room I would call her, have her sit in front of me, praise her and give her a treat. Do this 4 or 5 times a day and you'll find Foster will be flying to find you. Now when I call her I have her come sit in front of me, heel beside me and then go through some other tricks we do before she gets her treat.
