I didn't get a doodle because they "don't shed" (haha), but obviously would not mind the fine convenience if mine happens not to. She is an F1, obviously more likely to shed. We only just got her and…Continue

Comment by BG and Gavin on April 6, 2013 at 6:49pm Jeanine - if your husband has not had a reaction to your dog yet, it us unlikely that he will IMO. Allergies have nothing to do with the hair shed, but the dander (skin) and saliva. Gavin is low shedding and usually only sheds in the brush, but in the spring I notice a bit more hair around. It settles down by summer. I am allergic to most dogs but not to Gavin no mater how much or how little hair he leaves behind.
Comment by Jeanine Bandini on April 6, 2013 at 6:02pm Wally is 2 now; We have never found hair on the floors, clothes, furniture etc. It comes off him when I brush him only. Lately I have noticed hair on the carpet after he has played there and on my pant legs where he brushed against. Is this considered shedding? I wonder why he would suddenly start this at 2 years old. (no there have been no major changes, or even minor ones) Any info you can give me is appreciated. We love our dog however my husband is allergic .

It also serves a purpose for those seeking information about the myth that doodles do not shed <--NOT TRUE in many cases.
Direct Newbies seeking information about Non-shedding issues and Humans who have allergies to dogs to this group.
There is another group that serves Dogs With Allergies.
Thanks
Comment by Christine & Camus on March 16, 2012 at 8:40pm I have a a super-shedding doodle and a Shark vacuum and love them both. The vacuum works well on my tile floor as well as carpet.
Comment by Nancy, Ned, and Clancy on March 15, 2012 at 6:46pm Whole lotta hair. I have two shedding dogs and family visitors who are shedders too. And then there is the outdoors that is constantly brought in because we have a doggy door. I like how easy it is to use though.
Comment by Lucy & AnnaBelle's Mom on March 14, 2012 at 6:07pm Wow Nancy, you must either have a big house or a whole lot of hair! I only have to empty when I'm finished. What do you use?
Comment by Nancy, Ned, and Clancy on March 14, 2012 at 6:00pm The swiffer isn't that great when there is lots of hair, but it is easy and you can use it often. You have to empty and change pads part way through the job though.
Comment by Stella on March 14, 2012 at 5:39pm Hey Carrie. We have a Dyson Animal, it was a lot of money but it was so worth it. The Dyson is an awesome vacuum and the Animal is especially for gettting up animal hair. A borrowed one pulled dog hair out of my carpet after it had been professionally cleaned - this is what convinced me it would be worht the money!!
Comment by Lucy & AnnaBelle's Mom on March 14, 2012 at 6:58am Carrie -- You might also want to post this as a discussion on the main page. You might get more responses that way. You might also try a search on sweepers or vacuums or pet vacuums or something along those lines as I know at some point we have talked about vacuums. I personally use a Swiffer Sweeper Vac on my wood floors. It is a rechargeable, cordless vacuum which is why I like it. It has the regular Swiffer pad on it but also sucks up stuff as you go as well. They cost under $40 and you can usually find a $5 off coupon on line. The battery isn't going to last forever, but it really doesn't cost that much to get a new one. I find when they are brand new I can get through my whole house with it but as it gets more and more use the charge doesn't last quite as long. I just hold on to my old one and that way if one runs out I still have another one to finish up. As for getting the hair off your furniture I have found the best thing that works for me is just a good ole lint brush. I use the tape kind where you just use it and tear it off. I'm not sure which type doodle Chance is as your page is set to private so I couldn't see your write up, but if it is the more Lab type of coarse hair that is tough. My Mom & Dad have a Lab and getting the hair up is a challenge. The Golden hair is a little easier to get up with the lint brush.
