Comment by Nancy, Ned, and Clancy on January 8, 2013 at 8:44pm Hmmmm.... I just had to re-join this group to leave a comment. I wanted to post that I have switched from the rolled leather collars to hydro (water) collars for my dogs. There is NO matting and they can be quite attractive when you add the bling. Here is where I got mine. Hot Dogs All Dressed Up

I have used mine for 7 months when Ned's suddenly broke at one of the holes. I e-mailed the owner because I wondered if they weren't supposed to be everyday collars. She said they are everyday collars and is replacing Ned's at no charge. Of the three dogs the only collar that shows in photos is the non-doodle so you get to see his. Finally Ned and Clancy can have stylish everyday collars.
Comment by Nancy (Maddy & Zoey's momma) on December 16, 2010 at 11:05am Hi Dori, I think that's a great idea. Making collars/leashes is actually something I've been very seriously considering giving a try to earn a little extra money. I've been researching where to get all of the materials and am stuck when it comes to ribbons. I definitely think you could do it, check out Etsy for ideas/inspiration and let us know how it works out!
Comment by Dori & Rua on December 16, 2010 at 7:40am I am sorry if this has already been discussed. I want to make Rua some really cute collars and matching leashes! I bought her a Celtic collar and leash from www.hotdogcollars.com but I paid almost $29 w/shipping. In looking around, I can buy webbing, D-rings, tri-glides, contoured side-release buckles, and the snap barrel hook for the leash for under $3.00 per! Adding the ribbon is the most costly part (the one below is patterned webbing verses a plain webbing and adding ribbon to it).
Has anyone tackled this before? For under $10.00 each (plus my "free labor"), it looks like I can buy all of the materials, including ribbon, to make a matching lease and collar. I am also going to post this in DIY group (didn't see anything there on this).
