Laura, I go to a dog park in Radnor called Harford Park. I also go to a township park in Berwyn called Teegarden. It's not a true designated dog park but there are always dogs there.

They are both great looking and will deff produce some great red doodles. Scarlett and Gabriel would make some awesome looking puppies to I think.

Yes, me too Theresa! I love that they have every previous litter with the pups and they keep in touch with almost all the owners! It's also very well designed, easy to go right to a specific litter and gives you a chance to see what puppies look like for the breeding pair, which is so useful!

I'm thinking that a puppy from them may look like Noah, of Jane, Sherlock and Noah, based on their previous litter together. They definitely had a range of colors, many of the recent litters have had tons of color variation! Beautiful pups!

Does the breeder you are looking at ave a website. I'd love to check out the parents and who doesn't love looking at puppy pics. I have noticed mini doodles seem to keep their color more and come in a larger variety of colors not sure why though.

Bob,

Since genetics are never a guarantee, I'm going off the assumption that 2 reds with reds in their pedigree, will produce some dark pups. I'm actually surprised that the dad still has such a deep red color, he's stunning in person. I actually originally wanted a blond pup, but once I saw the dams/sires, I really like these two in confirmation, temperment and size and I immediately fell for the color. I guess it's true what they say about redheads!

Yeah on males vs females, I've had female dogs before that are much mor dominant than the males and I've waited almost my whole life for a dog of my own, I want a total lover, fun, playful pup. I've also always had male dog names picked out, lol, so I'm a little bias! I am leery of marking and leg lifting, but I know if you neuter at the correct time, the behaviors diminish greatly. The discussions on here about "red rockets" are interesting anecdotes. But I go back and forth on sex. I'm definitely looking for temperment and size first though. I'm pretty petite, so I wouldn't be able to handle anything over 40-50 lbs, which I doubt any pups will get to that size (I hope!)

This site has been a huge help, I've gotten many recommendations for vets, training, I hope they just keep coming!

Well the first hurdle is over. You found a breeder but i would not get your heart set on a certain color over temperment of the puppy and how it fits your life style. Maybe go with a shade of for the color choice. Our puppy sophie was as red as they come when she was born but lightens every day which is thanks to the poodle part. she is now a nice mix of red and light brownbut still looks pretty red when fluffed and clean. She is only 4 1/2 months old so when her adult comes in no telling if she will stay that color or go all chocolate like her mom and tis the same way with coat type curly or straight shedding to non shedding. Its all part of the doodle fun. There are a few groups on here like doodles of a different color and From pup to adult that show some of the coat changes that can happen like color and type that i found pretty helpfull.She is also supposed to be around 45 50 lbs but is already 32 as of the vet visit today so she is going to be a big girl. I have always favored female dogs because of the leg lifting of males when they go potty. We started using the bells when sophie wasnt giving us any natural sing she needed to go out and with in a few days we didnt have any more accidents in the house. But be for warned doodles are very smart sometimes to smart and they learn that they get to go out or get your attention when they ring those lovely little bells and will over use them at first. Sophie learned if she rings the bells our other dog will think they are going out drop the toy she is playing with and wait by the gate. Sophie takes this opportunity to swoop in and steal the toy. Make sure while searching for a vet you also find a good groomer that has worked on doodles before or can follow how you want your cut and willing to do it that way. nothing worse then dropping your doodle off and getting back a shaved dog when you asked for a little off thier body.

Thanks Theresa! I have a breeding pair picked out. Mom is a small red F1 GD, 23 lbs and dad is a red mini poodle, 14 lbs. The dad is a gorgeous red, almost Irish Setter red, so I'm hoping to get a pup that stays red without much fading. I'm playing the waiting game, I had to pass on their first litter, and the second litter will be coming before I'm in a pet friendly place (hopefully puppies are ready in Oct/Nov, my lease ends in Dec and I don't want to potty train a pup in the winter! So I guess I'm looking at around Spring next year, which I feel will come quick since this year went by so fast! And a puppy in Spring sounds much better for housetraining!

Any thoughts on males vs females? I've always wanted a male since I'm a female and I've heard males will be in love with you, rather than just affectionate. I'm still wavering on sex due to the size differences I've seen in the males vs females of the litter. I don't want a surprise with a boy that's much bigger than I thought! I've been looking through a lot of those male/female discussions here.

Any suggestions on vets, training etc? I have some places in mind but I want to get as many opinions as possible!
