My husband is a golf course superintendent and Mia get to go to work with him almost everyday.

actually, i only go to the office 3 days a wk which works perfectly since i have 3 dogs...:) i rotate, 1 dog to the ofc each day...:)  the only rule is wyatt must be the one to come with me on the day i do payroll since he's the least demanding of my attn...lol

Hunter does come to work with me but I happen to work from home - very fortunate for both of us :-)  I am an international travel consultant and as long as she isn't barking at something she is always in my office with me.  If I am not working neither of us spend anytime in there - 8 hours a day is enough in one room!  Occasionally she get's bored and keeps putting her head on my arm which makes it really hard to type! LOL

At the moment I work in Conservation and Welly my Goldendoodle can come to work with me. I work mostly at a Sand Dune beach site, where he meets lots of doggy friends in the morning when I do my morning checks of the site.

I also take school groups around and teach them about the habitat and all the creatures that live there. Welly comes too - which the kids LOVE.

If I go to the office, which is in the sticks, he comes too and hangs out. There is a spaniel pup there who belongs to a colleague and the pup adores Welly. He tollerates her advances well.

Im training to be a Pet Behaviour Counsellor so that I can work for myself and plan my work day around my doodles!

That would be the perect life for me... and my doods.

I'm very lucky to have a dog-friendly employer. We rarely see the public in our offices, so that's not something we have to factor in.

When I got Murphy at 8 weeks, I took a 1 week vacation to help with the transition and bonding, then I got my supervisor's permission to bring her to work every day the following week. I borrowed a small travel crate to transport her in my car. I have my own office, so I was able to set up an area with cardboard on the floor and the crate with her blanket for her to retreat to. I blocked in the area with copy-paper boxes from the department. As it turned out, I didn't need the cardboard. The area was small enough (about 4'x4') and attached to her crate that she didn't make a mess. When she looked like she needed to go, I could easily tell. She slept most of the day in the crate, and I had to bring her outside 2-3 times a day. As a single owner, I liked the opportunity to have her socialize with the 6 other people in my department one at a time or in small groups for a short period of time. I was careful to keep off-task time to a minimum, knowing that a cute puppy could be a huge distraction.

I left Murphy at home one day a week the following week, 2 days a week the next, and so on; but I continued to come home for at least an hour each day for lunch for about 3-4 months to let Murphy out and play with her. I made the decision to let her make it through the day based on the recommendation I found in books, my observations of her needs on the weekends, and her decrease in urgency when I came home for lunch.

I still bring her to work once every 1-2 weeks. I'll probably bring her in more as she gets a little older and more mellow. I love it; Murphy loves it; my co-workers and staff love it, and my boss loves it. If you can make it work, I highly recommend it!

Before baby, I took Rosco to work with me a few times a week (unless it was summer because if I had to see a patient suddenly and that person didn't like dogs or was allergic, I'd have to put him in my car briefly). I'm a dietitian in a hospital and most of what I did in my office didn't involve other people. A few patients even were happy to have him there!

Lola Pickle pie has had the luxury of coming to my office every single day since the Monday after we brought her home from the breeder. She was 7 weeks old. I have a crate in my office, one in my car, and I know ALL the parking garage attendants in the towns that I have to travel to throughout the week. Lola is a hit with my clients and she is beyond well-behaved. My staff help with training and my clients are always gracious enough to give her a hearty rub on her back and a kiss now and then. Having a dog in an office satisfies the soul!
