Hi Charlotte. What a cute dog you have!  I am in midtown east, picking up my puppy next saturday and can't wait!  Wondering if there are romps organized at this list?  I will have to wait until she is 16 weeks (April), but romping in the park with her will be a nice way to spend the spring!

Mercer Houston dog run is a member only dog run. There's an extensive application and interview process. Normally I would not go through the trouble but Joey is a super fearful dog. She's fine with dogs but fearful of people especially men. We got her at 5 months and she prior to coming home with us she handled by 2 people on a farm. We've made so much progress but as you can imagine manhattan is intimidating even for people!

I live in Nolita and have taken Joey to all the parks near us (Leroy St, wash sq, and Tompkins). Some of the dogs are really rough with Joey and owners do not watch their dogs. Today at Tompkins sq a dog had a mouthful of joeys coat. I thought maybe it was loose hair and tried not too be too alarmed. Came home to find a gash on her which I need to take her to the vet for.

I really want to get into the private run because owners are interviewed to make sure they are responsible. I've seen too many people reading, socializing and on their phones and not paying attention to their dogs. I didn't realize there was a park at bpc. I'll def try that one!

wow...I live in Battery Park City and I wasn't aware there are membership for dog runs.  We have several runs and everyone is invited whose dogs are not aggressive etc.  Is this a private run?

Sounds good Ann.  Let us get in touch in September.

Hi Sandra, sounds great.  And I need another month or two for Jessie to be ready for off leash in Central Park.  He's only just gotten to a point where I can envision walking him distances.  The first few weeks he regularly lied down in the middle of the sidewalk, now he tends to sniff around things a lot--but we've been moving (literally) in the right direction.

Ann, I have a one year old mini Australian labradoodle in midtown Manhattan (west side).  I am away a great deal in the summer but perhaps we could get the doods together in the fall in Central Park
