Comment by Alex & Mattie on April 9, 2013 at 10:17am Thanks Bob! We think she's the cutest puddle ever. Yes, I'm definitely going to get her groomed before she goes in. That's a great idea.
Comment by Bob Johnston on April 9, 2013 at 12:29am she is just a cute puddle of double doodle :) we didnt use anything after sophie got spayed jsut made sure anytime she would think about licking we told her no. I would think about going and having mattie groomed right before that way the vet doesnt need to shave anything down and she will be all clean since you cant bath her for a while after the surgery.
Comment by Alex & Mattie on April 8, 2013 at 9:51pm A delayed thank you to you all. I guess I need to check the board here a little more frequently! We're getting our rhythm down. Mattie's got lots of energy but she's also a little cuddle bug and loves to just hang out where ever we are.
We've got spaying coming up and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for how to help recovery go smoothly. Anyone use an alternative to the E Collar?
I'll check in with the Puppy Madness group too but I thought I'd see what folks here had to say first.
Comment by Bob Johnston on March 11, 2013 at 8:57pm @ alex. Find brushes on sale now you will need them. brushes, rakes, dematters, and a detangling spray. A pile of dog towels by the door is a good idea to if yours likes to play in the rain mud or anything wet like ours does. starting grooming now is a great idea even if it just with your fingers to get mattie used to being brushed. research the groomers in your area to unles you plan on doing it yourself and the last thing is that mattie learn to love the hair dryer it is her friend not a mean evil monster that has come to eat her :)

Comment by Joe and Eileen Haimerl - Honey on December 31, 2012 at 10:49am Alex & Mattie - NARs need LOTS of play and exercise. We walk ours 5-8 mi per day and every couple of months she gets a new toy added to her basket. Mattie is a cutie!
Comment by Alex & Mattie on December 31, 2012 at 9:20am Hi everyone! We've had our double doodle, Mattie, home for 3 weeks now and it's been wonderful. She's a little ball of love and energy! Are there any things you all can think of that are specific to NAR's that I might not know about from my research in doodles that you'd tell a new NAR owner? Anyone in the Seattle area with a younger DD that would be interested in a little play date? We're working on socializing with other dogs who are at about the same level of vaccinations. Thanks!
Comment by Andrew Bliss on August 14, 2012 at 3:01pm So, there is a new development. We went to the breeders house this morning (close friends of ours) to rub our daughter with the puppy again. I was wearing a navy blue shirt on my way to the gym. The breeders had just given the puppies a bath the night before. After holding our puppy I was covered in hair. My daughter also had a slight reaction on her arm and got just a little bit stuffy. The person that bought the first dog from the litter (the other runt, but a girl) that had been sold a few weeks ago changed her mind so that dog became available again. I picked up that dog and rubbed her all over my shirt...no hair...no shedding. The little guy we were going to get was shedding like crazy. After discussing it with the breeders we have decided it would be much safer to go with the little girl that was not shedding. We had gotten a little attached to the little guy, but we want to do what will be best in the long run for my daughter and dog. So, with a week and a half before getting our dog we changed and are getting the one that will more likely have less shedding/allergy issues.
Here is a picture.
Comment by Bob Johnston on August 13, 2012 at 8:30pm perfect looking doodle litter all the coat types seem to be there. The breeder we sophie from has that color down to a science most if not all the puppies they had this year were her color or very close. Fingers crossed she doesnt go poof and lighten up a ton.
