Hi April!..thanks for the invite!...Here's a photo of our rescue doodle Delilah. She was in an animal control facility in CA. DRC tagged her and between us, the wonderful shelter director and Pilots N Paws, we were able to get Delilah from CA to our foster in AZ and to her forever home in New Mexico the following day!

This seemed like the LONGEST day on record. I remember watching the clock and even getting to the airport about an hour early, just in case he got there before me. Met his brother, Murphy's parents and we are still getting the brothers together. Just met with them yesterday at a new dog park here in Az. Both Murphy's are so sweet, and neither was timid or scared. No pees or poops in the crate. Sat right with me in the back seat, whined a little to go out and we stopped and he knew just what to do. It was obvious our breeder had been doing some potty training and crate training. :)

Welcome everyone!!!
The thought of a pup (or adult dog) flying alone can be kind of scary for a lot of owners. Everyday hundreds, if not thousands of dogs fly the friendly skies and safely arrive at their destinations. There are things you can do to prepare a pup for flight. Communication with your breeder and the airline is key! I hope to ease the fears that some have and give tips to make the flight as safe and comfortable as possible. :o)

This was a great idea April. I picked up a pup at the airport for Leigh (Duece and Chance's Mom) as she was unable to and the stress about killed me! LOL!Well, not really but I was so worried about the little guy until I had him in my hands. I was a protective "Mom" and he wasn't even mine! Honestly, he was none the worse for wear at all and was 13 weeks upon transport. Here he is content and protected in Ali's arms the minute we got him in the car and out of his kennel.

He had a long day of flying and even made a connecting flight but I truly think that once he was loved on all his travels were forgotten! LOL

I'd be interesting to hear what others experiences have been as you never know,....one day I might just be that "Mom" waiting for her pup at the airport! LOL

This will be very helpful as I know I had many questions and concerns about Murphy having to be shipped. All went so well and he was in such great condition when he arrived at the airport recieving dock.

My breeder had kept me informed that morning and told me when he took off and asked that I let her know when he arrived. Which ofcourse I did.

Our situation was such that our 8 week old puppy flew in the same crate with his littermate and that made all the mommy's feel better about them flying.

Both pup's, both named Murphy, BTW, arrived with food attached to the crate incase of any delays and water still in the attached cups. Ofcourse I know now why MY Murphy had wet paws and face. Whenever there is water anywhere around, he will find it and go play in it. So being in a crate for a few hours with cups of water was probably a real treat for him.

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to help you with what to ask and what to plan for when shipping your pup. Our experience was good and I just have to believe that responsible airline carriers make every effort to see that the animals are safe and handled well.
