Permalink Reply by Camilla and Darwin on June 21, 2012 at 4:36pm Those are so pretty! Here are some I took a while back
Then to make things more interesting I shot some of colored milk drops.
My settings for these were
f/2.5 1/4000 sec and ISO 1600. Probably not the best settings for the photos, but it took me about 2 hours of trial and error to get it to work this well. I have lots to learn about it. :-)

Permalink Reply by Moe on June 21, 2012 at 5:00pm Wow, these are great. I love the colored milk ones. I did some cream into coffee a while back those were fun also. I can't believe you got these without flash! I probably shot several hundred frames to get a few decent shots. Thank goodness for digital.
If you put a piece of colored paper under and behind the glass it will pick up all the colors. Here is an old one. There is red and orange paper under a glass pie plate and green in the background. I used construction paper.
Permalink Reply by F, Calla & Luca on June 21, 2012 at 6:15pm Oh I love the swirled colors in the middle.
Permalink Reply by Camilla and Darwin on June 21, 2012 at 7:09pm Wow, that is cool! I think my settings were the way they were because I didn't have/use a flash. I should try it with one...
Permalink Reply by Moe on June 22, 2012 at 5:55am You can use the pop up flash on your camera if it has one.
AWESOME!!! It almost looks like a piece of expensive blown glass! I love how the colors appear to be swirling inside the raised section of water.
This is an incredibly inspiring thread....
