I am thinking of flying home with a pup, but due to schedule he will be about 13 weeks. I am really worried if he will fit as contintental does not allow pets to fly as bagagge, and since it is an international flight i can't do petsafe as it would involve brokers, customs, etc.
He right now is 7 weeks and 5.6 lbs, what do you think? Any opinions would be greatly apprreciatted...

It's very hard to predict weights as puppies grow at such incredible speeds and there are lots of factors to take into consideration. However as a comparison only, Molly, who is now 3.5 years is 56 lbs., at 12 weeks she weighed 17 lbs. I kept a chart of their growth over the first 1 1/2 years. That being said, she is a very slender girl tall but not bone heavy. Contrast that with our Riley who will be 4 in July and weighs 110 lbs. At 12 weeks he weighed 17 lbs as well but he now outstrips Molly in the weight department. And he is one solid as a rock doodle: tall and very thick and heavy. Not fat at all just heavy. I have no idea what airlines allow on board. But I think your pup may double his current weight in 6 or 7 weeks.
I just flew home with Hattie two weeks ago. I was worried sick she wouldn't fit. I bought a Sherpa bag from Petco because it had a softer top to bend under the seat if needed. It fit fine and had extra room. I recommend the Sherpa brand anyway because it had little feet on it so it sat up off the floor. The bottom of the bag gets very warm from the engines and Hattie was really hot at the end of the flight. She was eight weeks and weighed 6.5 pounds. Now she will be nine weeks on Wednesday and weighs 9.5 pounds today. I was so stressed, and it all went fine and was way easier than I envisioned so don't worry. Take a trash bag to lay on the floor and some potty pads to sit on top of that if you have lay overs. Also bring a collapsible cup to give a little drink with. Not much or he will have to pee. Also some wet wipes in case of accident. I was on five planes in one day to bring her home! But only two coming home for Hattie. Good luck and if you have more questions just ask.

MHO, a 7 week old puppy is pretty young to be traveling like that. He wouldn't be fully vaccinated and would be at risk for diseases so you might want to re-think this.

You'd have to find out what Airline approved crates are OK, I believe Vari-Kennel crates are OK. He's so tiny, that it sounds like he would fit in an airline approved crate. I think they even have soft crates that are approved. Sounds like he would fit just fine. If you're flying 1st Class, you have more room under the seat in front of you.

For an international flight however, you'll need to find out what if any, quarantine laws they have.

My girls came from Australia and it's the only country that does not have rabies so we didn't need to worry about that.

Hi thanks to all.

I thought I should clarify, he is now 7 weeks and 5.6 lbs, but I plan on traveling with him WHEN HE'LL BE 13 weeks.

My Piper weighed 6.9 at seven weeks...and now at 12 weeks she weighs ten pounds. Does that help?
yes that does help, thank you. It is just that it driving me crazy.....
Webber is a small standard.  He weighed 8.6 lbs at 8 weeks.  At 13 weeks he was 18.6 pounds.  What size is this puppy?  Seda, a medium, weighed 15.7 pounds at 13 weeks when I got her.  I am suspecting that his weight will, in some part, depend upon what size he is.  What are the under the seat limitations for weight?

Yes, he will be a small medium or large miniature. The dad is 20 lbs and 15 inch and the mom is 34 lbs, not sure if is 18 inch.

The max measurements are 18” L x 11” W x 11”H (46x28x28 cm) for soft sided kennels. What do you think?

Thank you all for your help and input

Maria
That is what Hattie is, a medium or small standard. In one week he probably won't be any bigger thanHattie was and she fit just fine. Don't stress. It is so much fun to have them hand your baby over to you! I will never forget, her tail was wagging a mile a minute when she was given to me and I was given lots of puppy kisses.
